I guess "bouncing" around allowed them to keep to a fairly regular schedule. Some titles require more work than others. As it is, they've left the harder B/W Pertwee stuff until the end (and its already affected the schedule with the delayed Ambassadors of Death release).

Plus, if they did start with sequential B/W stories from the first two Doctors, I doubt sales would be spectacular (even for the more "popular" Doctors, sales aren't great compared to some other TV releases)

AFAIK they've always stated that season sets (or in the case of seasons with missing stories, other boxsets) would be released after the individual releases were complete.

Part of the reason for the slow sales has been the steep price tag that each single disc story has carried, too. I saw no value in purchasing one story for between $20-30 per DVD.

I hope they do release complete sets someday, because it should be more economical than the current format and I do miss seeing some of those old stories!

A bit late, (and incredibly short) but another wonderful review for A Christmas Carol

Love this bit "I'm always amazed by the writing of Doctor Who episodes; a single episode can be funny, sad, and scary." Well said.

Well the UK at least is getting two "Vanilla" sets for pt1 and pt2 of the season. Play has the first set (episodes 1-7) up now.
