In front of Last Vegas (Beats Hangover 3 by a country mile or two)
Delivery Man (Must-See Comedy, hopefully this'll be the last time I'll see this trailer)
The Book Thief (Again, if it gets any award season love; Otherwise, no interest)
Grudge Match (Must-See, even if to see two screen legends duke it out)
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (Must-See, especially for all those millenial kids)
American Hustle (Must-See, to stay ahead in your potential Oscar pool)

I had also expected something for CBS Films' next release, Inside Llewyn Davis (Looks promising). Not such.

In front of Delivery Man (Heartwarming and humorous at the same time, but Starbuck had a bit more charm)
Ride-Along (I'm convinced this may have once been the third "Are We There Yet" film in an early draft; Interest is peaked, I just hope I won't be horribly disappointed like I was with Identity Thief)
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (Still convinced this could be the movie of the year for me; Must-See)
About Last Night (Do we seriously need a remake of such a mediocre 80s comedy? RoboCop is more than enough; No Interest)
Grudge Match (The third trailer to involve Kevin Hart; Must-See, but only because I didn't bother to see Escape Plan)
Muppets Most Wanted (They're back, and bigger than ever; Hopefully general audiences will think the same; Must-See)
Need for Speed (Jesse Pinkman's doing well for himself in his new life as a street racer/mechanic seeking revenge for the person who put him in jail; No Interest, yet)

And in front of Frozen [Second Viewing, First Paid Ticket]
(What more needs to be said? Don't end the holiday weekend without seeing this one):
[in 3D, unless otherwise noted]
The Boxtrolls (2D, but the film's supposed to be released in 3D; Some very talented hands created what should be an interesting piece for next fall; Must-See)
Muppets Most Wanted (2D; See Above)
The Nut Job (This movie just seems rather unwatchable; No Interest)
The Lego Movie (I think Will Arnett could make a better Batman than Ben Affleck; Must-See)
Walking With Dinosaurs (Just looks too much like a rip-off of Dinosaur for my liking; No Interest, yet)
Maleficent (Next year's Oz. Here's to not tanking the way Prince of Persia did; Looks Promising)

Changes
Viewing #3 (12/1/2013): No Change
Viewing #4 (12/15/2013): Drop Walking With Dinosaurs, replace with Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return (Would rather see Return to Oz on the big screen; No Interest), swap places at third position with The Nut Job, which moves to fifth position.
Viewing #5 (first in 2D) (12/26/2013): Drop The Boxtrolls, replace with How To Train Your Dragon 2 (Whatever skepticism I had about this has nearly disappeared; Must-See); move Muppets Most Wanted to fifth position, bumping Oz, Lego and Nut Job, one position up.
Viewing #6 (1/5/2014): No Change
Viewing #7 (back to 3D) (1/21/2014): Move Muppets back to first position, drop The Nut Job, move Dragon to second position, Oz to third, Lego to fourth.
Viewing #8 (Sing-Along, 1/31/2014): Replace The Nut Job with The Boxtrolls in fourth position. Otherwise, no other changes.
Viewing #9 (3/16/2014): Since it's been six weeks, and I arrived at the end of that Maleficent teaser, I can only speculate it's all the same as last time, except switch Lego with possibly Annie. Of course Oz and Boxtrolls may've had theirs updated.
Viewing #10 (3D, 2nd Run, 4/13/2014): Only piece present is for Muppets. I expect no more changes from here on.

These are from Frozen (which I personally need time to digest)

The Nut Job (yikes. Watch this instead)
Maleficent (double yikes. I love the character to death, but no interest for this)
Muppets Most Wanted (now that's what I'm talking about! But hey, it's the Muppets. Of course it'll be good)

In front of Gravity [Second Viewing] (1-3 in 2D, 4-5 in 3D)
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (Looks promising, but I'm not in a rush on this one)
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (The negative criticism I've seen won't sway me; Must-See)
Grudge Match (Fingers crossed I can get this one in before year's end; Must-See)
47 Ronin (No Interest; I don't need to say anything else about this one)
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Almost saw this one for free over the weekend, but used the pass to see Frozen instead; Wait 'til Blu-Ray release)

Just a quick thought for those of you wanting to see this rather tepid remake of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". Go to Netflix and rent the original. It is one of those classic films that doesn't need to be remake. Save your money to watch something else.

Most of you are too young to remember when this movie was in theaters, and I am not one of those. I saw the original "Walter Mitty" film four times in theaters, and have enjoyed it on TCM when it is shown.

No rocks thrown, just my opinion. Most of you know how I feel about remakes, lately.

Since it was a novel originally, i personally dont even consider it a remake since both films take from the source material.

Thank you! People not using the definition of "remake" correctly is a huge pet peeve of mine.

A "remake" is when Hollywood finds a movie that had success in a different time period and decides they could make it better today by adding the foul language, sex scenes, and stray away from the story for filming purposes.

The Original "Walter Mitty" film starred Danny Kaye, in one of his best performances, Viginia Mayo and Boris Karloff. It was a very funny movie and proves to me that foul language does not make a movie better. I am not a prude, but I just don't think that dropping 'f-bombs' or any other form of foul language is necessary to bring humor to a story.

The 1947 feature film was one of the best comedies of the year, and Danny Kaye was the perfect Walter Mitty, as I find Ben Stiller the most unlikeable actor to play Walter Mitty in the new film.

I know that years are flying by and my favorite films are being horribly 'remade' by Hollywood idiots who wouldn't know a classic film if it jumped up and waved a big flag.

I can only think of a few remakes that have been made over the past 10 years that were worth watching more than once. There have been a ton of "bad" remakes such as: "The Longest Yard", "Fun With Dick and Jane", "Day the Earth Stood Still", "Walking Tall", "Footloose", "Red Dawn", "Cheaper By The Dozen", "Father of the Bride", and the sequels to both of those films, are the ones that directly come to mind that weren't worth a single watch. The worst of all of them was "Dredd", the remake of "Judge Dredd".

There have been arguments pro and con about remakes or re-imagining classic films. I firmly believe that a classic movie should be left alone. If you want a new audience to see it, re-master it and re-release it so people will see that movies today can't stand up to the original versions.

While everyone here knows my stance on "The Lone Ranger" as being the worst re-imagined movie of all time, I find that some people just buy movies because of the stars in them. The casting of some movies leaves a lot to be desired. Armie Hammer (??) as The Lone Ranger was a joke. This film was just a western version of "Pirates of the Caribbean" with Johnny Depp doing his best impression of Jack Sparrow doing Tonto. I was raised in a period of time when the radio played a big part in my growing up, and The Lone Ranger was one of my favorites. When it came to television in 1949, it starred Clayton Moore as The Lone Ranger and Jay Silverheels, a real American Indian, as Tonto. Foul language and sexual innuendo were not allowed in those years, and the fact that the Lone Ranger never killed someone, he always shot to wound so the Courts of Justice could decides a outlaw's fate. This current Disney film didn't even get the story right about how the character became the Lone Ranger.

Remakes to me are when a studio has run out of ideas and decides to update a classic film to today's film-goer's wants and needs. "Starsky and Hutch" come to mind. What made that film funny was they mixed all of the situations of the television series into less than 2 hours and also paid tribute to the original series by using the 1969 Ford Torino and allowed the original actors in the television series to make a guest appearance. Now that was more re-imagining than remaking, and I would applaud that as the way to make a movie.

Enough is enough, and I have ranted long enough. Just don't get me started on remakes! I truly hate most remakes and that is my stand on it. I forget sometimes that most of the other members here weren't born when most of these original films were made, so they haven't been exposed to the classic films, as I have been.

I apologize for derailing this thread. Now let's get back to the original purpose of it.

And for those non-believers about an original classic should not be remade - "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" starring Danny Kaye, Virginia Mayo and Boris Karloff will be shown on December 26, at 8 pm Eastern time on Turner Classic Movies (TCM). I dare anyone who watches this film to tell me that they thought the new 'remake' with Ben Stiller is better.

I will be enjoying this film and saving my money by not going to the theater to see a crummy 'remake'.

It's set on my DVR. I guess we shall see.

In the meantime, let's get back on point, shall we?

In front of Saving Mr. Banks (Quite easily one of 2013's best surprises)
Winter's Tale (Just the kind of sappy love-story people will crave this Valentine's Day; No Interest)
Non-Stop (Liam Neeson in the next airplane-based action-thriler; I could get into this)
Son of God (I've a feeling we've found this generation's Jesus of Nazareth; Would like to know more)
Heaven is For Real (Greg Kinnear as a Nebraska pastor who discovers his son can literally see heaven; Might read the book first)
Million Dollar Arm (Was not expecting to see this trailer; Disney's next sports drama, hopefully it'll succeed where Secretariat nearly did; Looks fairly interesting)
Muppets Most Wanted (Their next big adventure; I pray for great success with this one; Must-See)

And in front of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (Does not surpass the original, but it packs a heavy comedic punch, regardless)
Mr. Peabody and Sherman (A fun time's sure to be had when it comes to revitalizing a little-known group of cartoon characters; Must-See)
Blended (This could be a return to form or the last deathnail for Sandler; Since he's reuniting with Drew Barrymore, I expect the former; Must-See, apparently)
22 Jump Street (They've already succeeded in making this sequel any less like the original TV series, but the first film turned out to be a hilarious romp; Must-See)
That Awkward Moment (Just does not look appealing; No Interest)
Welcome to Yesterday (Found footage film involving teens and a time machine; No Interest, yet)
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (Capt. Kirk assumes the role of one of Tom Clancy's finest; No Interest, yet)

Doctor Who: Day of The Doctor
I'm not really a Doctor Who fan, but was this really released in theaters?

Anyways, last movie I saw was Frozen, and the same trailers at Jiminycrick's screening played at mine as well. And I don't even live in Canada. :o

Yeah, they had a bunch of screenings across the US a day or two after it aired. I think a lot of theaters also had simulcasts of it while it aired as well.

But oh, Die Hard in theaters. I'd love to see that.

Mhm. The simulcasts were 'major cities only' so where I'm living right now they only had the screenings on the 25th rather than the 23rd but it was quite a bit of fun. It was shot in 3D too so that was neat to see on the big screen with a bunch of fans.

As for Die Hard, I missed this month's showings in theatres around where I am but when I was living in Ottawa a few years back I went to a Christmas Double Feature at a local rep cinema of the first two. It was amazing. I also know there were marathons back in Feb. of this year of all the films (all four... Then something else was shown after that was billed as a Die Hard film but should not be... What? I'm not bitter....much.) but I was in class at the time.

Oh yeah, I'd love something like that.

Anyway, this is for when I saw Saving Mr. Banks today.

Non-Stop (honestly, I thought this was Taken 3 when the trailer started, but of course it wasn't. I'm not sure if this is a day-one release for me, but it does look better than a Taken 3 would. Or the second did, for that matter.)
Son of God (I'm as far from Christianity as you could probably be, but I can't help but feel like it's blasphemous to turn Jesus' story into blockbuster fair. But there have been more questionable takes of his life on screen. Still, I can't say I'm interested)
Muppets Most Wanted (still a day 1 for me)
