You're wellcome .
.
I think the new looks like Belle and Snow White and she's better the old one looks like a little girl (Espically those black little girls in those DisneyLand ads who dressed up as Cinderella\Aurora\Belle and run in slow motion to the DisneyLand's Snow White\Cinderella\Belle and hug her).
the old one looks like a little girl (Espically those black little girls in those DisneyLand ads who dressed up as Cinderella\Aurora\Belle and run in slow motion to the DisneyLand's Snow White\Cinderella\Belle and hug her).
Do you that in the picture she's supposed to merry someone she dosn't like (like Jasmine) and later she fell in love with the frog prince?.

I like the old design better too. The dress seems a bit too modern with the lack of sleeves. I know it's set in the 20's but it seems a little too advanced. And I really miss the bun lower, when it's high like that it seems very 80's, when it's back it's more natural and simple. Also the new picture it very realistic, there needs to be some caricature of people or else it would be too hard to draw from frame to frame. This may only be concept art, but this would to too hard for the animators to keep on model effectively. Also what is up with the squiggly lines on her hair? the rest of her is so detailed that part seems phoned in. Weird.

You are so right. The old one looks like a little girl dressed up as a princess. Wat too childish and cartoony.Ariel'sprince wrote:You're wellcome.

The new one is so stunning, I'm in love, this could be my next favourite Disney princess. This pic changed my expectations of the movie.
I'm through with the childish, overly bright, sequel look.
The new design isn't more complicated as for example, Snow White or Jasmine, so I hope they stick to this design.
Cinderella's dress was too modern for the classic European setting. Even the Fairy Godmother said she wanted to do something new and modern.PrincePhillipFan wrote:I love the new design of Tiana, as well. I agree that the new dress seems really out of place and too modern for the 1920s, but I think she looks a lot less cartoony in the newer pictures. She seems a lot more polished in her design and on model with the other princesses to me.
But I think all of the outfits are timeless in that you can wear then anywhere and still be captivating.

Disney's The Princess and the Frog
Well..usually Marky and I agree, but...
I prefer the old design. I can see that the newer design makes Tiana look older, and Marky's favorite princess, Aurora, is a 16 year old who looks much more mature than her actual age. But I like the older design's rounder face, and wider eyes (which look more willfull), as well as her previous hair and costume. I agree with Disney Divinity's comment about reminding him of the prom. I've never seen an outfit like old Tiana's, but I have seen ones like new Tiana's. At least the new crown's unique...though less European princessy than the old one, which I preferred.

I agree that Cinderella's dress is modern, but yet at the same time as you said, there's something classy and timeless about the dress, and most of the dresses of the princesses. As others have said, the new one to me looks rather like an ultra modern prom dress to me, rather than the other princesses'. I like Tiana's new design better, but think her older dress was designed better. It just seems to fit more in the vein of Cinderella and Aurora's dresses to me.Cinderella's dress was too modern for the classic European setting. Using some of the behind-the-scenes pictures of the staff from here, I cropped a few concept art pictures.

This one is something I noticed- the original logo. Except, the text is updated, "the Princess [indent] and the Frog".

I can't really remember the exact term for this type of... thing. lol

And with that last picture, I made a short piece of animation. The background and lighting jumps around from still to still, but I'm sure you guys can understand what's going on- the frog is doing the "ta-da!" sorta thing on a table or desk (note the box, book, curtain in the background, etc.), and then something falls on him, or someone hits him. Also, I tagged it with "UltimateDisney.com"... you know how fast these things spread.

And finally, I found this last still here. I'm not sure if you guys have seen it before, but I haven't.

Hope you guys like them?

I, personally, prefer the newer design. What I'm about to say may be kind of awkward, but I feel Tiana looks more African American in the new design. In the old one, she always came across as Mulatto to me (a mix between black and hispanic). I think it might be because that design was similar to Audrey Ramirez's from Atlantis: The Lost Empire, only less blocky. Even though the newer dress is admittedly more common, I still prefer it over the Swan Lake-ish old one. I also like the bun up high rather than low, even if (like the dress) it's more predictable. The new design just gives Tiana a more sophisticated look and less like a girl playing dress up.
I understand the concern for making her too realistic. It's going to be very hard to keep her on-model throughout the film (just look at how often Belle's face changes in her film). I still find it refreshing to see a realistic-looking 2-D human from Disney again, though. They've been doing so many stylized designs recently that I kind of miss the more natural look (or as some would put it, "blander" look) of the earlier features. The one thing about the older pic that I do prefer is the night sky. It looks more radiant and magical in the previous one. Now it looks more realistic, probably to better match the new character design. Either way, it's still gorgeous, though.
