Aw, I missed Buble performing? He's good. I need to get some of his CDs. I'm afraid to ask about the weird joke, ha.

I have been watching Idol on and off this year, because my parents watch it (mainly my mom is way into it). The whole Sanjaya scandal is interesting too, from an outsider's perspective (I mean, for someone who isn't too into the show). I mostly know who the competitors are at this point, but not by name. Saw the last two when they were deciding whom to kick off, but I wish I knew which one is Phil and which one is Jordan. What's the name of the bald guy, and what's the name of the beatbox guy?

LOOKS LIKE AMERICA GOT IT WRONG AGAIN!!!

While I enjoyed the results shows, including the surprise performance of Michael Buble', bad joke and all, I was totally knocked off my couch by the vote of America.

C'mon, while I agree that Phil, Haley and Gina belonged in the bottom three, it was clear that Gina was the better of the three, but America got it wrong again, and sent her home. It is really sad, because I thought she showed that she could sing a ballad as well as the rock tunes, being that Simon had dubbed her the resident 'rock chick' a few weeks back.

Phil should have been the one sent packing, because he clearly didn't have a clue about the song he was singing, and at least Haley put a little pizzazz into her rendition of "Ain't Misbehavin' ".

We should have five girls and three guys in the finals, but this is why I don't believe all the things we read about the votes. They never vote off the same sex two weeks in a row. We have even numbers for the top eight, four guys and four gals. Next week it will be uneven, and then you betcha, they will even it back up for the Top Six.

The Top Three tonight of Jordin, LaKisha, and Melinda was not a surprise in the least. They put on the best of the show last night and showed us all why they will be in the final four..............and I disagree with everyone else, I think that Blake is clearly the most talented of the guys, and should be there for the Final Four.

I wasn't surprised by the bottom 3 either, but I was shocked that it was Gina. I thought it deserved to be Phil, since Sanjaya is here to stay, who gave a very boring performance on Tuesday. I'm kind of rooting for Haley at the moment just because I want to see more of her, so she is the only person I called for on Tuesday. But I am more of a Gina fan and had I known, I deffinatley would have called for Gina. This is a rude awakening. Form now on, I will be voting for everyone I want to stick around.

For Slave2moonlight:

Jordin is the tall half black/half white 17 year old girl with long curly hair.

Phil is the tall bald guy who most would describe as "creepy looking."

Melinda is the black girl with short hair and a lack of a neck who is amazing!

Lakisha is the heavier black girl with shoulder length hair who is also amazing.

Blake is the short spike blonde beatbox boy who I'm a big fan of.

Chris R is the taller short haired guy who sounds like he would have been huge during the boy band craze in the 90's.

Sanjaya, of course, is the Arab boy that has been the subject of much controversey.

And, since I know how into dream girls you are, Haley is this years knock out with her long brown hair, legs that touch the sky, and eyes that make you never want to blink.

Right-on description of Haley, goofy  .

I wouldn't call Phil "creepy." He just needs to grow some hair. Sanjaya, on the other hand...
:pan: Love It.

Thanks, goofystitch. The only one I knew by name was Sanjaya. I can't seem to recall Jordin off the top of my head, but I know who all the others are now.

I agree about Blake. I think he has a lot of talent and charisma. Haley is not exactly my type (I can get rather particular), but I can definitely see her attractive qualities.

Does anyone think there's more to Sanjaya than just being the victim of that "vote for the worst" campaign?

Honestly I only saw him on the tryout show and thought he was very good but have not seen a performance since. In fact the only performance I have seen was an absolutely horrid performance of the Police's Everything She Does is Magic by a guy who immidiately got voted off for trashing the song. I cant believe for a minute Sanjaya did anything worse than that.

Anyways at least I have reason for watching American Idol again...I can watch Miss Hayle Hot legs. WOOHOO! Is she single by any chance?

Anyways Im sad Gina went home...I think she's better then someone I mentioned in Paragraph one *edit* err sentence one...when im typing these things they feel like paragraphs lol. :D

It's got to be embarassing for Jennifer Lopez to be on a show about singing. Melinda, Jordin, or Lakisha should teach her about singing, not the other way around.

Can they vote off JLo? She will be the worst singer on the show.

Agreed. Not a J-Lo fan either. I hope they do it like they did with Gwen Stafini where the Idols can sing songs by her musical inspirations because if Melinda does "Jenny From The Block," it will be weird. It would be awesome if the judges said that all of the contestants sang better than the original. lol.

My bad. It's hard for me to tell sometimes. I don't mean to offend anybody with this comment, but to me he almost looked like he could have been Aladdin's brother. And if I'm not mistaken, Aladdin was an arabic folk tale. But I probably should have remembered back to when his sister was on the show because she really looked Indian... and his father looked Indian... what on Earth was I thinking? lol.

I pointed it out for the simple reason that Indians could play a large role in the voting while Arabs could not. There are over one billion Indians, many obsessed with American culture, with access to satellite dishes and the Web that could massively affect the voting. This is not the case with Arabs. There are relatively few and most shun American culture.

Is it people like you keeping her on the show? The girl can't sing, she needs to go. And since most of this is revolving around Sanjaya, I think it's safe to say she won't last long.

I think the main reason for this whole scandal is all because of Howard Stern. I mean, it doesn't make any sense. American Idol is one of my favorite shows (that and House), and I'm worried the show is gonna disappear because of him. Even Simon threatened to leave the show if Sanjaya won. Does Howard Stern take pleasure out of angering and hurting people? It's obvious he doesn't like the show, but no one's forcing him to watch it. If you don't like the show, don't watch it. What does he have against it? If all this goes as planned, and Sanjaya wins the Idol, Howard Stern will probably feel like he has complete control over television. I wish the show would do something about this, I can't see how they're allowing this. And when this is all over, I'm sure other reality shows (that have voting involved) will take extra measures to insure that scandals like this don't happen to them.

I may lose American Idol, but God forbid, if he takes away House, heads will roll..

Sirius Satellite has 6 million subscribers, only a portion of which listen to the Howard Stern show. Votefortheworst.com gets about one million hits a week. Even if we were to assume that all six million Sirius subscribers were listening to Howard Stern and voting for "the worst", and that all one million visitors to votefortheworst.com were (a) different from the Sirius audience and (b) all voting for "the worst" each week as well, that gets you seven million votes. Granted, some people will vote multiple times, and some people who don't fall into either group will still vote for "the worst", but I can't imagine that all of that adds up to more than a few million votes each week at most. Then take into consideration the nearly forty million votes that "Idol" receives each week. As Fox has insisted all along, I doubt that this vote-for-the-worst phenomenon (if that's what you want to call it) seriously affects the outcome. Sure, it might shift around positions within the final three but it's not going to make the difference of Sanjaya going from cast-off to one of the most voted-for contestants.

lol no I don't even vote for anyone on American Idol...I really don't care who wins actually...except for Sanjaya, if he wins...then that would be like the joke of the century. To me Hayle is just pure eye candy lol.

I'm glad that Gina's gone. I never liked her that much, she had too much of an attitude, ya know? Although if I had to pick who was going home it would've been Phil the Vampire. Can he please leave next week?

I didn't like the way they grouped everyone into sections of 3. It was kinda anticlimatic, we all knew who the bottom 3 were.

I don't think Haley and Phil the Vampire can hang on much longer, they are in the bottom 2 or 3 every week.

If by attitude you mean her appearance, then yes, she dressed with an edge. But if you mean attitude by her personality, she seemed like one of the sweetest most sincere people you could ever meet. So I don't know.

Thanks for those numbers, AwallaceUNC. I always figured that more people participated in the "vote for the worst" campaign. Even though I don't care for Sanjaya, he appears to have a large and real fan base. I hope he doesn't win the competition like some magazines are estimating, but I'm sure he will go on to a large career.

Bebopgroove wrote:

In what way can she not sing? I can understand if you don't care for her voice, but claiming that she can't sing is an overstatement. I don't like Sanjaya because I don't care for his voice. I could probably be quoted as once saying something similar, but I don't really mean it. He can sing, but I don't like his voice. I vote for Haley because I really like her voice and her performance on Tuesday was very energetic. She was one of the highlights for me. On top of that, yes, she does have the total package and that probably plays a large factor as to why she is still on the show. But it's not like she is going to win. Sadly, either her or Phil will probably be next to go. But I just hope it's Phil before Haley.[/quote]
