Next wave of Walt Disney Treasures? Update: Future In Doubt
I've just e-mailed Bill Hunt at the Digital Bits website to ask him if he can publicise the plight of the Treasures on the site. They've not reported this as a news item yet, but they've obviously got an inside track with many DVD companies, and have been very vocal on other issues over the years.
To be honest, I'd just be over the moon if Disney would just relent and issue a wave 7 containing just The Chronological Donald Vol 3 and 4. At least then Donald's shorts would be complete on DVD, and I think many fans would be satisfied with that. Then we could move on to the Legacy collection, and see what that brings us in the future.

Re: What Donald toons are unavailable?
Nice to hear - let's all "think" and try to remember that, if we try to make contact, we're dealing with actual people on the other end of the line. If we'd even discover that there are people in the "right" positions who'd care about getting this material completed, that could work wonders!Big Disney Fan wrote:Well put there, Lars! I would love to see a set on The Holiday's at Disneyland. There have been some great Christmas and Halloween specials from the park. The interest should be there since the parks thenselves seem to draw large groups for the Holiday's. Also I would love to see some of those great Mystery and Adventure episodes from the show. Like "The Secret of Boyne Castle", "Secrets of the Pirates Inn", "The Whiz Kid and the Carnival Capers", "The Mystery in Dracula's Castle" etc... And yes I agree that there should be a continuation of The Swamp Fox and Elfego Baca.

Wow - that's too bad that they pulled the plug on the series. I dont really like much Disney animation, but the live action stuff really rocks. Sure it would have been nice to get the whole Elfego Baca on disc, but I'm going to go with the "glass half full" mentaility. I'm happy to have gotten what I did get, and not lament too much on what we didnt get.

Who do I have to write or email? Any addresses?gpn wrote:A few years back Disney planned to release Princess Mononoke on DVD with only it's english-language track. When word got out to the anime community an online petition to have the original japanese track included was organized and I gladly signed it. When Disney saw how much interest there was in having the japanese-language track included, they delayed the release and released it with both language tracks. Disney does have a history of responding to petitions, so I will gladly email them my interest in seeing the Treasures line continued and hope for the best.

So are you saying it's all my fault? Man, some people just don't believe in minding their own business. Are you saying I'm a bad person?DL-Craze wrote:LOL, Big Disney Fan, I think when you posted those cartoons listed on youtube, Disney read your post and got wise to us because they have all been deleted.
BTW, sounds like they don't want us to see those cartoons AT ALL! How selfish can they get?! Now we'll NEVER get to see those cartoons. I don't just mean not see them on the Treasures, but see them, period!

People at Disney do read the boards (hi Joe, how's the kids?), and when links like that are brought to their attention, Disney knows they have to shut it down. It's not your fault, BDF, Disney is just keeping their copyright safe.Big Disney Fan wrote:So are you saying it's all my fault? Man, some people just don't believe in minding their own business. I suppose you're right. But it's still not fair, because now that the Treasures have been (unofficially) ended, there's no way we will ever be able to reliably see all the Donald shorts in their entirety ever again.Escapay wrote:People at Disney do read the boards (hi Joe, how's the kids?), and when links like that are brought to their attention, Disney knows they have to shut it down. That's ridiculous, we don't have a claim strong enough to even be brought to court. What would it be, The People vs. The Walt Disney Company for bringing about emotional distress due to the ending of a DVD line?

And some people thought writing to Disney was silly idea...Big Disney Fan wrote:What if we hit Disney with a lawsuit? Maybe then Disney will be forced to choose between finishing the Donald series or going to jail. I'll bet they will probably pick jail.

For your information, I was being sarcastic. But seriously, there must be some way to force Disney to at least finish the Donald series. Can someone think of something? Because petitions rarely work. The reason why I sarcastically recommended lawsuits was because of this old saying: "Where reasoning fails, force prevails." Then again maybe we should write a petition, only this time we do NOT speak nicely. Maybe that's why petitions fail, because we're always because too nice. Maybe if we wrote irate letters instead of nice ones, then maybe we can get results. See, by writing angry letters instead of nice ones, we might be able to force Disney to comply. We don't need to use swear words or say any bad words to them or threaten them, just use strong words. I think (this is a big THINK) this could work. At least we'll let them know we mean business.Escapay wrote:That's ridiculous, we don't have a claim strong enough to even be brought to court.
