Any Daria fans here?

Well, I guess the logic behind this whole situation is easy to understand. SNL DVDs are huge sellers. Lions Gate have, apparently, been making out like bandits. So, Universal wants a piece of the pie.
MTV has a lot of other shows wanted on DVD, that used the same music format of Daria. And I think the backlash over their Complete season releases of Real World: New York and Real World: Las Vegas have probably led to Paramount / MTV deciding that it's probably best to just issue DVDs catering more to novelty sales - The Real World You Never Saw, for instance. And specialty markets. Or children's entertainment. Daria simply remains too expensive to produce. And it's unfortunate for all the show's fans, many of whom don't have every episode on tape.

Well I think that they should at least test the market for a Daria DVD. Put out an online survey and see what episodes are the most popular. Then release a DVD of them. It wouldn't cost that much to release a disc of about 5 or 6 episodes. The large Daria fan base would purchase them in a instant. I think that MTV should consider Daria a huge priority, because I personally can't think of an MTV set that has garnered this much speculation and attention. And I think that it's a specialty market for Daria. It's not like Seinfeld where everyone enjoys it and could think abotu buying it. It's a niche market, unlike other trash like Sweet 16 and Laguna Beach. They can release that anyday. Does that stuff even sell well? I doubt that Laguna Beach would sell more than Daria.

I would LOVE to see Daria get a DVD release; unfortunately, I don't see it happening. If music rights are the only problem, I could really care less if some of it is replaced. It would be nice to have the uncut episodes as they were when originally broadcasted, but if that isn't possible, I'd rather have edited episodes than nothing at all.

I am not a fan, but I kind of used to watch the show. The only episodes I really remember are the one where she babysits these two kids, and another that was like a musical.
I was more of a Celebrity Deathmatch person. I watched that show more than Daria. However, I think the "new" episodes are terrible because it's not done by the same person anymore.

I've been searching the net and I've come across this Dariapage, with the music used in each episode of the series. Here's the link- http://www.outpost-daria.com/episode_guide.html Follow the links to each seasons songs page. I admit that there is a lot of music in it. In the first season some of the artists used include 3 Doors Down, Fiona Apple, The Offspring, Iggy Pop, PJ Harvey, KoRn, Fat Joe, Shaggy, George Micheal, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Genuwine, Chaka Khan, Garbage, Beck, Spice Girls, Weezer, Radiohead, Blur, Jamiroquai, Silverchair, Ben Lee, Celine Dion, INXS, Foo Fighters, Mary J. Blige, Trish Yearwood, Hanson, REM, and Shawn Colvin. Now you'd think that that would cost millions, but I'm betting that it wouldn't cost as much as people think. I mean, they didn't use that much of the songs listed, and I'm sure that the sets would cost more than others, meaning that they'd be able to gain their losses back relatively easily, if the sets were duds. Any thoughts?

Now I know the music of the first season like the back of my hand. The Guide may say that but they are lying. Besides, I read that and "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down didn't come out until after the show's Fourth season! I know you're only reporting, but their information is incorrect. Fat Joe is another artist who did not appear in the first season anywhere.
And, on a related note - I actually contributed to their song page. Yep! Little old me forced them to include 1 (yep, only 1) song in their guide that they failed to include on the list for several years. Luscious Jackson's "Deep Shag" was used in Season 3, episode "The Old and the Beautiful." I had to press the Contribute button twice, but I received a note saying they realized I was right, they forgot it, and that it would be included. So, I'm a part of Daria Website History. However small that may be seen, it's still some part.
And that guide is basically the most consistent thing for this thing, on the internet.
Another note - the songs for Season 2, episode "I Don't" are completely different depending on what channel you watch the episode on. For some reason, the non-MTV reruns of "I Don't" completely changed the music for every single Wedding scene. For instance, the "Love Theme" from Titanic and "Private Dancer" from Tina Turner actually played in the original broadcast on MTV, but that changed for some crazy re-run and some have noted that it has never returned to the original run.
But, I know almost every single song from the first season. Certainly over 90% of each of the 13 episodes. I sort of consider it a 90's Bible of sorts.
Okay. Thanks for the info. I guess that I'll take their info with a grain of salt. It's cool that you contributed to the guide, it's nice to have it updated by someone who obviously knows their Daria. I'd want someone like you running that guide, instead of someone who puts Fat Joe in it, when his music is not featured in the eps.Lazario wrote: Complete horse sh*t.

And I remember that episode I Don't. I loved how it had that little bit from Titanic, so it sucks that it isn't in the subsequent airings. These music problems are really irritating me, someone needs to sort them out, ASAP.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show!! It really needs to be on DVD and also I agree with the issue regarding "Is it College Yet?" it should be UN-edited. then maybe more people would buy that too. Everyone (really everyone) has told me that I am just like Daria. I don't really think so, but I have very similar glasses, same color hair, same attitude/flat monotonous voice.
Hopefully someday this will get a crazy good release with cool bonus features and will be unedited (I think Noggin used to edit episodes).
Anyway, I LOVE Daria!

I myself am not a fan of Daria, but my sister certainly is!
In fact, my sister sounds kinda like her, too, especially the sarcastic monotone.

I know it's not exactly the same thing as really watching the show, but over at www.outpost-daria.com , you can read the transcripts for almost every episode of the show (I think). So, Daria likes to read. So she wouldn't probably advise you to check it out when you get the most desperate to hear some of that trademark, one of a kind Daria wit and insight.
To get there, click on the thing at the top, in the Head Space with the black bar, that says, "Episodes," and then there in the list of episodes, there should say something like Transcript and you can read what everyone said and the description of some of the non-speaking actions.

I lost any respect for MTV a long time ago, but that doesn't mean they haven't had shows I liked in the past. Daria was pretty good. I can't say I remember it super well, because I didn't watch it, like, religiously, but I would still love to get it on DVD. I definitely dug Quinn, ha. Daria is a hottie too, but I'm more into the bubbly type, hence the love for Disney girls.
BUMP. Just bumping to make sure plenty of people know about Daria's horrible situation (or lack of) on DVD, and to get as many people voting as possible for it to get on DVD. Here's the link again to sign the petition- http://www.petitiononline.com/dvdaria/petition.html Vote, please, even if you don't like the show. We need as many votes as we can get.
