I'm with orestes. Hopefully they'll start to put the Platinum Titles on the big screen again with Lady and the Tramp and The Little Mermaid!orestes. wrote:What I would love to see is every PE title going to theatres and then get the PE treatment on DVD like have Bambi in theatres in March and in October put it on DVD the same time Cinderella is going into theatres.
I really want to see some of their classics in theatres again.

I wish they still did theatrical re-releases... but with monkeys that run Disney these days, they probably just view such a novel motion as "not cost-effective." Friggin' bean counters.
That really is a tragedy, too - I would have loved to see Lady and the Tramp theatrically, in its original CinemaScope - especially with deathie mouse!
Ironicially, though, I found that I loved Bambi as much when I was a young'un as I do now. I guess I just had a quiet enough personality that I could appreciate the longer sequences and drawn-out "reflections." The only real difference I see with Bambi now is that I can appreciate it more, uh, profoundly?
The broader themes of the film are more apparent to me now... and they just make me love the film all the more!

Hmm...Paka finds long conversations about how film projectors work romantic! Anyway, don't mean to rub it in your face, Paka, but I have seen Lady and the Tramp in its original aspect ratio in a Europe exclusive theatrical reissue. Shame I was only nine and wasn't able to appreciate the broad canvas.Paka wrote:That really is a tragedy, too - I would have loved to see Lady and the Tramp theatrically, in its original CinemaScope - especially with deathie mouse!

So, does this mean that you don't have any Disney DVDs what so ever? If so, be a teenage rebel against your old folks and go and save some money to buy Disney DVDs! That's what I did, only my parents like Disney so they weren't too miffed.nachonaco wrote:I could if it weren't for my parents...they think I'm too old....![]()
I can't wait...it's been so long since I've seen Bambi.
Seriously, I'm seventeen in three weeks time and half my DVDs are Disney ones. Do as I say...rebel!

And moving on...I'll probably not watch Bambi that night seeing as I have no TV. One of my roommates left, and he wanted to sell his TV so he left it at someone else's apartment so they could sell it for him.

Yep. Lots of people think that I'm older than I actually am on this forum. MickeyMousePal once thought I was thirty plus.Escapay wrote:You're only sixteen???Wonderlicious wrote:Seriously, I'm seventeen in three weeks time and half my DVDs are Disney ones. Do as I say...rebel!![]()

What age did you think I was?
Hey, at least people don't mistake you for the opposite sex!Wonderlicious wrote:Yep. Lots of people think that I'm older than I actually am on this forum. MickeyMousePal once thought I was thirty plus.

Dunno what it is, but I've had more people (on various forums) that think I'm a guy by default... must be the writing style, or something.

I'm not exactly sure what Disney is hoping to promote with the Bambi airing. With BATB, it was put on TV in its original theatrical form to promote both the Special Edition version during commercials, reminding you that there's more on the DVD you haven't seen, and the Enchanted Christmas cheapquel, which was released the following Tuesday. So that was logical at least. Aladdin was done simmilarily so they could promote the sequels collection DVD.
Not sure what was up with Sleeping Beauty other than to promote that its DVD exsisted, but the reason it was chosen over Lion King is because they ran TLK (in its Special Edition form) in February 2004 about a week before TLK1.5 was released, to promote that. Still, it does seem kinda funny to be using the Platinum films to promote themselves; I'd guess that the cynical minded parents would assume they could just tape the thing instead of buying it. But, what do I know about Disney's internal logic, if they have any at all.
