I'll put this here since it's kind of similar:
What's the difference between eBay and Half.com? I know eBay owns Half, but why would they bother setting up a website that seems so like the other one?

Don't worry Amy, it's exactly what I would have said!blackcauldron85 wrote:Half.com is pretty much a competitor of Amazon.com's Marketplace, IMO. eBay is an auction site, and Half.com is like a secondhand store; you don't need to wait for an auction to end (even though eBay has some Buy It Now listings).
That's probably not a good answer...just what came to mind.

I "joined" eBay on a trip to my family's house a few years ago. My brother was used to ordering a few things and I think he always got lucky. He was into like Playstation video games and got a good price and always got a game that worked and everything.
I tried it once before. And I waited a long time for it to come in and it wasn't what they advertised at all. I was given the money as a gift, so I'm not very upset about it. But, I still got ripped-off. That was like '05, I think.
But, I just bought something a couple days ago and have now put a bid on another item. So, I'm giving it another chance. ONE last chance. If it doesn't work out, I'm never going to use that place ever again.

Here's another update on me + eBay, I put an item up for Auction yesterday. So, now I'm a seller on eBay. God I hope it works out! Because it's a really expensive item (I bought it cheap, now it's out of print and fetches a pretty impressive sum). If the bidder who wins it screws me out of payment, I'm going to cry like a little girl
. (Oh yeah, I've already got 1 bidder, so I've got lots to be excited about...or scared by, whatever)
I also received in the mail the first DVD I said I sent money to the seller for. I'm telling you - I paid $13.95 for the DVD, I got it brand new & sealed, and you know what Amazon.com wants brand new for that DVD?? $49!!! I am SO happy right now, I can't even tell you.

Yay, I'm glad you had a positive experience, Laz! If the winning bidder doesn't end up paying for your item, contact them through eBay, and if nothing still, file a claim. If more than one person bids, there's something called a Second Chance Offer, so you would contact the next highest bidder and he or she would have the chance to buy the item, at the highest price they bid at.
