Ah everyone for the most part seems to have the limit or there abouts and it is too uniform. My next avatar will probably be the size of Luke's or I'll just keep it 100X100 and put black bars on either ends. Oh I'm odd but that's okay.

I have a question, I got my avatar by using- Link to off-site Avatar and I'm wondering if it takes bandwidth at all. As you can see my avatar is a .gif and I wanna help the site too :!:

As far as I know, it's not taking bandwidth. But it's 150 pixels wide which is 10 pixels wider than the old maximum, and 50 pixels wider than the new limit. If you could find something smaller, that'd be good, since it's way over the file size limit and it probably wouldn't be easy to upload it here. But technically, something like that isn't problematic for bandwidth only for members with slow connections.

Thanks!

My image in my signature is a little too big. I'll try to change it tonight or tomorrow.

I just realized that the image's size is dynamic - it doesn't stay smaller than 100 x 345 pixels.

Sorry Isidour, but I think you need to resize your avatar or upload it to another site. Now, Luke only allows avatars on UD to be 100 x 100 pixels in size.

Isidour, you're welcome.

I think someone removed my signature image, or I deleted it myself. I'll try to find a smaller one. :p

Unlucky me, I've only just joined and have a mere 29 posts to my name, hence my "loungekitty" avatar no longer graces my moniker...but not to worry,I'll be adding to that number quite soon. As far as size goes, I'm not sure, but it's one of the smallest 'tars I have on my computer. Does anyone know how to reduce the size even further? I've just gotten Photoshop CS and am still learning it, so if anyone's got any tips, please feel free to come forth. Also trying to teach myself how to create animation with it as well...as said, any helpful hints?

ok, since you have Photoshop (), open a new window with pixels set to 100 x 100 (or whatever size, just don't go over 100! ;)) and paste your picture into that, and you'll be able to resize it by doing this:

click on the icon with the ARROW (point NorthWest) + ARROWS (pointing North, South, East, West). You'll be able to see the "BOUNDING BOX" that enables you to resize it. Kinda sketchy, but i hope you get what im saying..sorta.

If not, I found this for you:
http://www.absolutecross.com/tutorials/photoshop/
(hope that helps!)

as for animation, I use Jasc Animation, it's another program. I think you can animate in Photoshop, but I'm not sure... :)

Like maxiethecat, I joined recently. I have 37 posts (including this one), only 13 more to go to earn back my avatar! :)

Could somebody possibly help me? I took a picture from my copy of Lady And The Tramp that I'm wanting to use as my avatar, but I've encountered a tiny problem...

Dimensions: 640 X 480
Size: 900 KB

I was going to try resizing it using Microsoft Paint, but apparently my sister deleted it. :x Same deal with the Calculator...but that's another story... By chance, would it be possible for somebody to size it down for me? Any help would be appreciated! :D
Thanks to all that offered to help with my Avatar...Starion, RJKD23 and cj!

Luke - The best bandwith saver maybe going though and deleting a bunch of old posts, especially in polls and games. There are threads and posts on here that are keepers but does everything need to be kept forever?

If they're not being visited much, then they're consuming very little bandwidth. That may save disk space, but for now, disk space isn't an issue. It's the daily transfer of data, and that's mostly not affected by old threads. The very active Polls & Games threads are surely contributing to the bandwidth levels. I haven't been staying on top of them so much, but at the surface, a few of them seem designed purely to boost post counts. If that is or isn't the case, then a wise thing might be to delete the thread(s) after a certain number of pages and start a new one, so we know that people are participating for the fun, not for the number beneath their name.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I paid a couple of rounds of 20 questions last week when it was on page 30, now its already 42 and only three or four playing.

Really not what the forum was originally made for either.

sorry Luke and Mr. Toad...

but i still participate in other forums..
every once in a while, the games forums are good to post because that's where most people post.
i would say, maybe it is a post booster, but is there some way to not add to the post count when you post on the POLLS & GAMES part of the forum?

I did not know that forum threads consumed a large amount of bandwidth. I feel guilty for visiting the more popular and large threads. I'll try not to visit the large threads too often.

I would browse the site with the images off. If I turn of images, I am not to navigate the forums very well.

Also, I should find a smaller avatar. :p

From now on, posts made in the Polls & Games section won't increase your post count. This modification doesn't seem to be retroactive, but there are still a few big threads I want to address.

Assuming you're all posting in these threads for fun, then the change in post counts shouldn't affect play at all. But I figured I'd let you know!
