No biggie, JiminyCrick91. I already knew about the Zero to Hero release but it was nice of you to post that.
I was saying that Hercules might make a good sequel. Not that I want one, but since it's inevitable, why not? I know that there was a proposed Trojan Wars thing, but I haven't heard anything new with that recently.
To stay on-topic, At least it's not the Emperor's Newer Groove like it was going to be. Although I can't imagine what a movie about Kronk will be like. Do you all know about the new show they're making? Something about Kuzco going to school.
I'd complain about Bambi 2, but I've yet to see the original Bambi. I'll be getting the DVD in march so I'll complain then, lol.
About the Tinkerbell movie... I'm at a loss for words.

They probably wont make one for quite a while. The problem here is that only the more popular Disney characters/movies or the ones kids are gonna recognize the most are gonna get sequel treatments upfront. Not many are gonna recognize the Disney Hercules film right away. But they will recognize Tinkerbell and Bambi and Rutt and Tuke...you know how it goes.Teen Artist wrote:Maybe this is the wrong thing to ask, but... Where's the Hercules sequel?
It's one of the few movies that hasn't gotten a sequel yet and and the actors are still alive/young. I'm not for Disney making sequels, but if they're going to do it, they might as well give this one a try.

where did i say that i wanted it to go theatrical? what dose it matter where it goes as long as it goes.2099net wrote: Oh, and Iggie, as the starter of this thread, how does this thread square with your desire for a THEATRICAL release of Kronk's New Groove?
look.. i dont mind sequels... it's the unnecessary sequels that im not for...
like ive said before... aladdins sequels were well deserved, and i think they should make antoher hercules. but movies like bambi 2, brother bear 2, and tinkerbell are just uncalled for! also mulan 2...
look at it this way... NO ONE wanted a snow white 2... right? or a second dumbo! why? because the story doesnt need a continuation! it's a beautiful simple classic let it stay that way! and i think that goes the same for bambi 2! goddamit why does disney think they must release sequels along with every classic special edition dvd...

orestes.
Blah to most sequels. They usually cheapen the first movie. I enjoy the Lion King sequels but now that I go back and watch the original movie it's lost some of its magic.
I've always wanted to see a real Hercules sequel, I like the many Pooh spin-off movies (come on, where's the flippin' Eeyore movie already?
) and I can't wait to see Mulan II although I'm a bit nervous now. Still, they go too far. They want money more than anything it seems.
What I would love to see from their animation department are new Gargoyles adventures, bring back DuckTales for another spin if the DVDs are a hit. I think they could do a lot more with all the characters they have.
As for Herbie... well bring it on. I love the HErbie movies even if I only own Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (my fave) on a recorded VHS from a decade ago.
Anyways to sum up my rambling... I don't really like their sequels too much since they are cheapo money makers but they have done a few enjoyable sequels.

I agree that the sequels are to make money, but just look beyond what you see! I mean, what can the DisneyToon Studios do? Refuse the projects? Nope... I have always been backing the DisneyToon Studios up as they have a lot of talented people there and it's the only Studio that has some Disney Magic left because the people there really like what they are doing and are very motivated (they are the most friendly people of the whole Disney company, I heard). I know it's not an excuse to like the sequels, but everyone could at least keep the awful things they sometimes say to themselves... It's not going to make anything better or worser!

Well Lion King 3 was great, i loved it!
By the looks of Lilo and Stitch 2 the animation looks just like the original and i cant wait until its released.....
It seems to me that sequels are getting better.....is this because now new 2D theatrical films are not being made they can focus on making the sequels better, well it certainly seems that way........It will be interesting to see what Kronks New Groove is like as the original was hilarious!

The increasing quality was always the plan of the DisneyToon Studios. Especially since they changed their name to "DisneyToon Studios" (it was previously known as "Walt Disney Television Animation"). Sharon Morrill (President of the DisneyToon Studios) once said:
I'm sure a lot of people don't agree, but I think she and the DisneyToon Studios staff really mean it. I really support all their efforts. This is not a second-rate business. We take these films very seriously. We don’t want anyone to think that we don’t put the same care in the movies just because they’re on DVD. We strive for each film to be better each time.

Well, if my memory serves me correctly, Felix Salten wrote sequels to his original Bambi book (of which the Disney movie is based on) so a sequel here doesn't seem too far-fetched. I only worry that they won't be able to capture the beauty and the wonderfully subtle tone of the original.
As for the Tinkerbell movie, this is the first I've heard of it, but I'm not at all surprised that they're gonna milk her recent burst of popularity for all it's worth and then some.
And a sequel for Brother Bear? I'm kinda surprised here, but I probably shouldn't be. The original is one of the few Disney full-length animated features that I was a bit disappointed in.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm beginning to support some of the Disney sequels. I really like some of them. And even with the ones I ended up not liking, well, at least I gave them a fair chance with a rental.
I'm curious about Mulan II. I've read the review, but I still want to see it for myself.

I've found the reason why people are always complaining about sequels: The don't have enough money to buy them all !!!
WDW Trips: 1992,1997,2005,2006, 2007, 2008, 2009-10 (Disney's Port Orleans-Riverside), 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2022.
Disneyland Trips: 2008 (Disneyland Hotel) and 2016
Disney Cruises: 2007, 2010 (Wonder) and 2012 (Dream).

Ohoho, I assure you, this is not it.reyquila wrote:I've found the reason why people are always complaining about sequels: The don't have enough money to buy them all !!!
I personally don't think sequels have much replay value (I haven't seen any more than once aside from TLK sequels) but sometimes a diamond in the rough will pop up. Sadly, the good-to-dreck ratio is in favor of the dreck. If only they'd put more thought into their sequel stories before actually animating them.
Wherever. Whatever. Have a nice day.

sequels
I seriously think that Walt is spinning in his ashes. Movies that were, are, and forever will be classics should not have sequels. These sequels ruin the classics. Some sequels are ok, but Peter Pan 2? Jungle Book2? Cinderella 2? These films are definetly "Blanding the Brand" as Roy E. Disney said.
Re: sequels
Oh come on... It's not that bad. Walt was always open for new ideas, and you don't know how Walt would manage the company today, with big bucks on his bank account (a LOT more than his days). PLEASE don't get started about Walt's character... You don't see it all on TV...FantasiaMan wrote:I seriously think that Walt is spinning in his ashes. exactly!! NEW ideas! but new ideas is not the same as rehasing old ones for all they're worthJens wrote:Oh come on... It's not that bad. Well then, if that piece of my post bothers you so much... ignore it. Just read the other statement.
