I'm desperate for a special edition of Hercules. I have always been a big fan of Gerald Scarfe, who was the inspirational sketch artist for the film. He worked with the animators and defined what every character, objectand location in the film looked like, as well as the general style of the film. He literally did hundreds of drawings for the film. If they could get him to contribute to a commentary, or a documentary, that would be great, because a single artist probably hasn't had that much influence on a Disney film since Eyvind Earle.

What about Chris Sanders in Lilo & Stitch? His trademark bulky style wwas used for the look of that film.
:pan: Love It.

I would absolutely LOVE to see a Special Edition release of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I think this film is one of the most deserving of a 2-disc release. So, I went to DisneyDVD.com, scrolled to the bottom and clicked the "Questions" link. There I was able to e-mail DisneyDVD and I let them know what I thought. I told them how much I love The Hunchback of Notre Dame and explained that is long overdue for a Special Edition. I also explained that I refused to buy the Gold Collection DVD because I am hoping for a better release. This is the response I got:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. We appreciate your interest.

THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME is currently available on DVD. No additional releases are scheduled. We will forward your request for a Special Edition release to our Marketing Department for consideration.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reply to this email. You may also contact us at 800 723-4763 (Canada: 888 877-2843), Monday 9:30-7:30 and Tuesday through Friday 9:30-6:30 CST.

Perhaps, if enough people e-mail Disney and express their interests in a 2-disc special edition of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," we'll eventually get a decent re-release of this wonderful film.

Actually, Hunchback is not part of the gold collection. It was just a single disk release with a few features on it. At least that's what I have in my collection. I'm surprised that Hunchback is probably the cheapest animated feature. Usually they go for around $19 and I got Hunchback new for $11.

My bad, you're right it wasn't included in the Gold Collection. I misspoke, but when I e-mailed them I simply referred to it as the "single disc edition"

I'd love a Hercules Special Edition Release, but I hope they'd release it on both Blu-ray and DVD.
BTW IF ANYONE WANTS TO ASK DISNEY TO RELEASE THEIR FAVOURITE MOVIES IN SPECIAL EDITIONS OR BLU-RAYS, PLS CONTACT THEM THROUGH THIS LINK IN WHICH THEY WILL SEND YOUR COMENTS TO THEIR MARKETING DEPARTMENT, EVERY COMMENT COUNTS, YOUR'S INCLUDED !!!
http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/conta ... actus.html
I already asked them to release Hercules, and The Black Cauldron in Special Edition Blu-rays, but honestly what would it matter to them if I was the only one who wants to get those movies ?
I also mentioned UD on the feedback I sent them when they asked me what led me to visit their site, so I hope that made them more aware of what us, UD members want from their home entertainment company.

I'd really like to see both of these on DVD again. The Hunchback more, cause I loved Clopin the clown, he was so funny and cool, and i wanted to him for halloween that same year it came out.

WHOA! may I ask where you got this image from, and if it's reputable source? IF this does happen (not getting hopes too high after Aristocats, Robin Hood, Dumbo, TENG, or Tarzan), I will defaintely be purchasing this...

Well, it looks like a US edition to me. All the language shown is in English, including the actual sell tag at the lower-right side of the advert, which it wouldn't be unless it was British or Australian. As far as I know, its neither (and again as far as I know, no UK or Australian release to date has been THX certified).

Earlier on this thread I was going to post "When Hellfire freezes over" (I thought it was rather witty) but it appears I would be wrong if I had.

Still - if this Supreme Edition is the future of the short lived Masterpiece line, it shows up the Alice in Wonderland release (but may explain the non-movement on Lilo and Stitch in the US)

I think that's just fanart. Disney would never give us anything that good.

i want this exact set just as everyone else does but, when was the last time disney only made minor changes to disk art such a changing color. normally, they have different pictures on them and are the same color. not the other way around. lets just hope this is a first for disney and not a 'fan made hope I want this to come out' picture

I don't know. My gut instinct tells me this is real. Perhaps as a support to the spring 101 Dalmatians platinum. If for no other reason it would explain the still unaccountable non-appearance of Lilo and Stitch stateside. There's enough content on the overseas 2 disc editions to fill the 2 discs, plus a third disc could easily contain missing art galleries, storyboards and more (should this be the way Disney is going with their multi-disc sets).

However, I think this is only possible for post 1985ish films. I'm not sure there would be enough marterial for - say - 101 Dalmatians, this justifying its 2 disc Platinum status, even though Platinum is suppose to be "above" other animated films.
