Anyone apart from me excited about Bambi PE?

I'm very excited for Bambi! I don't think the film is uninteresting at all - in fact, my Bambi BD video was probably the one that came the closest to "wearing out" of any of them (I didn't watch videos nonstop as a kid, but Bambi was a favorite). I was just a more "animal-centric" kid, though - some of my favorite films included Bambi, Dumbo, Watership Down, and Charlotte's Web. And of course, my favorite parts in films like Cinderella were the scenes that focused on the animal characters!

So yeah... as great a film as Little Mermaid or Cinderella are, I'm certainly looking forward to the DVD release (finally!) of one of Walt's best and most memorable landmark films.

Sadly, our Bambi VHS broke right before I got into Disney movies (around the age of 2

) so I've never seen the film. This is a must-buy for me, but I have to admit that I'm a little disheartened after reading some of the comments here. Usually I see the opportunity of watching an animated classic for the first time as a very special occasion, but I think I may have to lower my expectations for this film. Ah well, like Ciaobelli said, I'm sure there will at least be some great bonus features.

I am really excited for Bambi. Even though the movie doesn't really do it for me, I can't wait to see all of the bonus features, and also I never really considered Bambi to be as attractive as Snow White, for some reason I never thought Bambi used that many scenes with a multiplane camera, I always considered it to be similar to Dumbo! I'm not sure why? But after seeing all of those restored pics and seing the trailer I am really looking forward to this release more than any other, I have never seen Cinderella or The Little Mermaid, but for some reason their impending releases do not really have me excited!

Well I never saw them as a child because my parents bought all my disney videos and there were so many I wanted and so many they bought me. Also all the VHS/DVD releases were only released for a limited time, so it's not like they hung around in stores for ages. Also to my knowledge they not been sjown on TV (well terrestrial at least). Also I don't know anyone who has a copy of either of these.

and also they're the only 2 i haven't seen 2 out of 44 ain't bad!

Yes exactly, this is the primary reason that I never saw a number of Disney films during my childhood (such as Sleeping Beauty). It's really quite annoying when you think about it, but it is nice to at least be able to experience them now. If only I hadn't developed a critical mind over the years.

I'm really surprised about how many people never saw some of the old classics. I understand that some films weren't available for such long periods of time, but it's still quite shocking. I remember renting/watching at a friend or relative's house Disney movies I never owned (Bambi being one of them) and I'm surprised others didn't do the same. Anyway, I should be more guilty; I haven't seen Home on the Range or Brother Bear yet.

*Spoiler alert*

On a side note, was I one of the only people who never cried when Bambi's mother died? Virtually every other person I know got teary eyes, yet I didn't. I did feel sorry for the little deer, but I never broke down. Am I normal?

I'm looking foward to Bambi!

I just preordered it from The Disney Store yesterday!
Naturally I'm more excited for The Little Mermaid because that's my favorite movie of all time, and I'm also highly anticipating Cinderella, Pocahontas, etc., but that's just because I remember them more! I haven't seen Bambi since I was a tiny tot (4 or 5 years old!)! I hardly remember any of it! But, yes, I am really looking foward to seeing Bambi again and adding it to my collection!

Like Ciaobelli said, the wait's almost over!

I'm also really looking forward to watching Bambi fully remastered! I can't see how anyone would pass it up! It's a Disney classic and Walt's personal favorite how could you not add it to your collection

. As for Cinderella and The Little Mermaid they too will be added to my collection the day of their release. I think all Disney Classics should be charished and added to your personal vault.

I own Bambi on vhs, it was last available in 1997. I love it. It was one of my favorites as a kid. I just started collecting dvds in late 2003. And yes I started my platinum edition collection as well. But I don't have Snow White on the platinum edition version. I own a lot of the animated classics on vhs. And I have been trading them in as I get them on to dvd.

Nope, not alone! I didn't cry, per se, but I always hated watching the beginning of the film because I just didn't want to see Bambi's mother get whacked. ): I haven't seen the film in so long though so I have yet to see how said scene will affect me as an adult.

Can't wait to see it again - remastered this time! The last time I saw it year ago and of course I own it on video but I have been waiting to see it in DVD. I'll buy it on the first day it appears to the stores!!

1. Bambi is among my top 3 Disney favourites of all time ( together with Fantasia and Lady and the Tramp ).

2. I'm looking forward to Cinderella too, and I already have the limited edition TLM on DVD. However, if I had to have just one of the three, it would be Bambi without hesitation.

3. About the crying: I don't remember what my reaction was when I first saw it ( actually I can't even remember when I saw it first time). However, my 8-year old kid watched this for the first time when he was three. When he realized Bambi's mother had actually been killed, we had this little chat:

Kid: I didn't want the hunters to shoot Bambi's mother.
Dad: Yes son buth they did shoot her.
Kid: But I didn't want them to shoot her.
Dadd: Sure son, however that's what happened.
Kid: Well, then ... I want to kill the hunters.

Oh, and BTW, she doesn't get shot until about 40 minutes within the movie.
