I wonder if the box set will be worth something in the future due to the fact that it will be pulled from shelves within two months? I'm not going to buy it because I own all three. If I only owned one, I might be persuaded just for its perceived value alone.

Well, it's going out of print 3 weeks from today, but as usual, stock isn't going to get pulled from the shelves. New stock just won't be coming in.
As for its value, I don't think it will be all that great anytime soon. The majority of people who are going to buy The Lion King on DVD already have, same goes for The Lion King 1½. I think the individual 2-disc sets are more likely to go up, and that will probably take a year or so.
i am so surprised that The Lion King has been on selves so long considering is it went on sale in Oct 2003, Snow White and beauty and the beast were only on sale for 3 months, Sleeping Beauty was also on sale for only 3 months after there release dates all in October.
