Hmm, after reading Skipping Christmas, I realized just how much I love all the mayhem. Maybe because I never really worry about anything (Hakuna Matata, words to live by, lol), but I find it absolutely exhilarating to just walk slowly throughout the malls, watching as other people pull their hairs out looking for those perfect gifts. Of course, I plan my gift-buying a good month ahead of time, and even though I do have to do some Christmas shopping during December, I usually don't make a fuss about it. Go in, look for it, buy it, move on.

It's the Holiday Season, and generally, there's that good feeling in the air, like they put something in it that makes everyone so cheerful. But some people ruin it all because it's all "ME ME ME BUY BUY BUY!!!" and they do anything/everything to get things out of you, like those annoying peeps who call you on the phone and ask you to donate to their cause/charity/organization/whatnot. Honestly, if we wanted to donate, we'd be out there donating rather than be hounded on the phone or at the door. Then of course, there are those wacky shoppers who literally PUSH you out of the way to get to the last Furby or whatever the new craze toy is. God, are they that desperate to keep a kid amused for fifteen minutes (before the move on to the next present), that they must use physical violence???

And then, there is the media. Ahh, I love the media here. We've got two nonstop Christmas music radio stations, three or so that play a mix of Christmas and regular music, and ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas, along with the network specials, and Christmas-themed movies at the Box Office. It's not always in your face, but when it is, I just bask in its glow.

I love the hectic air in the malls during the last few days before Christmas myself.

This is when I do all my shopping, among the crazed, harried late-Christmas shoppers. ;) However, I'm perfectly happy to be amongst them because to me, it doesn't really feel like Christmas unless the shopping center is crowded with people at 10 PM (since the malls close much later during the winter holiday season).
Wherever. Whatever. Have a nice day.

Right on, Escapay! When I read Skipping Christmas, I felt kind of the same way. In fact, it angered me that those Kranks would want to avoid that. It's somehow all Tickle Me Elmo's fault, I suppose.

LOL, I know! It warms my heart to walk around the mall, seeing those frenzied peeps running around yelling and grabbing.

The neighbours actions, though, in Skipping Christmas, I found to be despicable. So what if one couple decides not to celebrate? Loads of atheists don't celebrate Christmas! But it was nice, (spoilerish, so it's in white: at the end where they all got together to make Christmas at the Kranks since the daughter was coming home)

They reveal that spoiler in the film's trailer! Kind of a bummer. I can't remember it was revealed on the book jacket, though.
