Well, I may be in the minority, but I would have preferred a "Play All" on the visual commentary bonus snippets, and the ability to watch the movie with just the audio commentary straight through, no interruptions. At least with an option to do it either way, they're bound to please more.Ciaobelli wrote:I was just thinking about that, I always thought it was a waste of precious space. I really hope they have a Nemo style commentay where they interrupt the movie and show you stuff, that was awsome!!

I'm not sure if they can relase the movie so soon. I think the movie will play in theaters for about 3 months allowing it to make it through the cheap shows. Then when it goes to In Demand they have to have it for 2 months before it can go to video. That means the earliest we should see this movie is mid-April.
I totally agree, especially with the point regarding the ability to hear the audio commentary without the interruptions, though I do think there was a "Play All" option for the visual commentary components in the index. I also thought the commentary suffered a bit since too much time was spent introducing the video segments. This led to a "scripted" feel that wasn't present in Pixar's previous commentaries.Luke wrote:Well, I may be in the minority, but I would have preferred a "Play All" on the visual commentary bonus snippets, and the ability to watch the movie with just the audio commentary straight through, no interruptions. these days most movies stay in theatres 8 weeks some up to ten, anything above ten weeks would be considered rare. Also, i could be wrong but if you mean In Demand Pay-Per-View, then that comes after the DVD.Lucylover1986 wrote:I'm not sure if they can relase the movie so soon. to have a DVD out in just 4 1/2 months is not rare, there have been some DVD out in just 3 months after its Theatre release, so it is possible.
There is a "Play All" option for just the video clips in the Visual Commentary menu. And if you want to watch just the commentary, you can hit "next" every time a video clip comes up, and it will skip right past it.Luke wrote:Well, I may be in the minority, but I would have preferred a "Play All" on the visual commentary bonus snippets, and the ability to watch the movie with just the audio commentary straight through, no interruptions. I personally want just an audio commentary. Like Quasimodo said, parts of it felt to scripted just to introduce the next video. Also, in Finding Nemo, aside from the videos in the visual commentary, there were no "making of" movies except for that one 25 minute "Making Nemo" documentary. I prefer lots of smaller featurettes instead of one big feature, and since the visual commentary videos don't really feel like featurettes to me, it just seemed like a 2-disc set with only 25 minutes on how they made the movie. Now if they make a visual commentary but still have lots of other features, I'd be happy. But I say, give me a DVD like Monsters, Inc.
I do like the idea of having just a widescreen version, though. Or, even better, release a seperate widescreen DVD and a fullscreen DVD, so people who want fullscreen can get it.
You're right, and that's how I watched the stuff. But then watching with just the commentary having to hit "next" every time was kind of annoying. Shouldn't be difficult to include both ways with branching.PixarFan wrote:There is a "Play All" option for just the video clips in the Visual Commentary menu. With that, you'll always get places that stock more of the fullscreen version or only the fullscreen version and people (knowingly or not) will get stuck with the inferior product. I like how Pixar went out of their way on Finding Nemo to tell people to watch the widescreen version!PixarFan wrote:I do like the idea of having just a widescreen version, though. Well, Atlantis Collectors Edition (the Perfect DVD) had Audio Commentary only option, Commentary with Visual cutaways or a list of visual cutaways to play.
I must say, I prefer just the audio commentary.
See Disney can do it. So why not do it on everything from that point on? Forwards people, not backwards.

Why have a full screen version at all? None of the international releases were full screen?Luke wrote:With that, you'll always get places that stock more of the fullscreen version or only the fullscreen version and people (knowingly or not) will get stuck with the inferior product. After all, it costs Pixar time and effort to make their recompositions for several of their full screen shots. Is it really worth it?
(We'll ignore Disney UK's shocking single disc full screen release of Monsters, Inc, the only full screen Pixar release in the UK. At least the "proper" release was widescreen only.)

A Bug's Life is part of Disney's Gold Collection, and it has the Disney DVD logo in the lower right corner. this is the only one because the first version and the 2 disc version doesn't have the Disney DVD logo, only the Gold Collection.

The original 2-Disc Bug's Life CE has the Disney DVD logo on the back.

Yes, I did find the cutaways a little distracting, but the option of both was grand.2099net wrote:Well, Atlantis Collectors Edition (the Perfect DVD) had Audio Commentary only option, Commentary with Visual cutaways or a list of visual cutaways to play.

I should mention this over in the Lilo thread, but the Lilo documentary gets interrupted every few scenes to give you the option of playing the "footnote" or continuing. All these footnotes are available separately, and the multi-angle feature would have been a better option there I think.
