I've posted this a few times before, but I can't remember where, so I'll post it again!Roklie wrote:This is a little bit off-topic already (my post), but when are we going to know about the new Platinum Editions? I mean people new about Bambi ages before it's release, so when do you think we're getting information about the new ones then? Not talking about PE's for 2006!

Thanks! I knew about 101-Dalmatians already, but I'm still waiting for that day when Luke will post somewhere that Fantasia, Pinocchio..etc. will be confirmed as the future PE titles, gosh I'm waiting for them.RJKD23 wrote:http://www.ultimatedisney.com/releasetypes.htm#platinum

Dumbo
I just meant that it's rude because locking thread is basically censorship. And you can't say that this thread has been over-done because threads evolve over time and new info crops up. Also I stand by my assertion that newbies don't necessarily know where to search for oft-discussed info. Also I will point out that practically my first post in this forum was about Dumbo and my questions were answered nicely and discussed in some depth.

Dumbo on his way?
hmmm with this hush-hush rush into the vault and speculation that Dumbo II is back on the slate does this mean that we should be expecting a new and MUCH better release of this classic sometime soon? i REALLY hope this is the case because i love this film and i hated the 60th anniversary edition so much that i never bought it. I think the question now is, when?

I wouldn't mind a 2006 re-release 2-disc set but I would rather see it join the PE line for a release in early 2008.
If they do release it next year I would hope it would be released on October 24th, which would be 65 years and one day after it was originally released into theatres.
If Dumbo II officially dies before another edition of Dumbo comes out on DVD I would be really interested in a number of features or one great feature detailing Dumbo II and how it failed. I think that would be pretty interesting if it were done in documentary style.

It would be extremely interesting, but that would never happen. For one thing, the general public doesn't even get much (if anything) in the way of behind-the-scenes on DisneyToon sequels. For another, Disney detailing how a sequel failed and shut down? Can't see that happening. Most present-day productions don't even get a "warts-and-all" making-of documentary, but rather semi-promotional featurettes with soundbites and stuff. I could see Pixar explaining misfires, but not Disney, especially not Dumbo II.orestes. wrote:If Dumbo II officially dies before another edition of Dumbo comes out on DVD I would be really interested in a number of features or one great feature detailing Dumbo II and how it failed. I really hope this pans out. I'm craving a loaded 2-Disc set for this, Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Peter Pan. I'd like to believe that this is coming in early 2006 (after all, this fall and winter proves that Disney no longer believes they can only release a couple of animated classics within a season), but if it's really going to be a tie-in with Dumbo II, can that sequel be done soon enough for that? Then again, the current release is going away now.
The Treasure Planet news is also interesting. TP was a home video success, but the current release is already as good as you can get without adding a second disc. Still, I can see them re-releasing it. If they do, it will probably just be a re-issue of what's already available, spread over two discs, plus a handful of new but rather insignificant features (+ slip-cover).
