After a long peroiod of inactivity regarding movie buying, while I was in Europe on vacation on Summer 2003, the lure of seeing if PAL's extra resolution resulted in superior DVD's made me buy some of my favorite Disney titles there. Which then led me to wanting to buy more here but i was having trouble finding some (like the treasures, which I had seen on stores some time before my trip, and I was foolishly thinking, no way those are out of print so soon) So i typed Disney out of print DVD on Google and UltimateDisney had all the info I needed and a whole lotta more! :D
So I decided to hang around and after about 9 months of gestation coming here everyday, while reading one of the recurring discussions about open matte Disney where people usually rip their shirts, dm was born.

I found this site a long time ago but never cared about it. But one day last year I accidentally stumbled back and found what a great site it was. I relied it for all Disney DVD news. But it wasn't until February I finally joined the forum. :)

my story

Post by Papa Bear »

I actually found The UltimateDisney Website twice in one day. It was way back in the day so I can't rember exact details but, I was on google and did a search for Home Improvement I was trying to find out if it was going to come to DVD anytime soon and that is when I found the Old UD.com's link to Home Improvement. Which I found to be quite informative, so I added that to my favorites then later on that day I did a google search for for a list of Disney's animated classics. And once again got pulled in to the wonderful world of UltimateDisney.com. It was not until a day or so later that I relized that the two pages I had found were linked. I joined the forum shortly after that. And I have been a member for just over two years I beleive, although I don't post as frequently as I should I am visit the site anywhere from 5 to 20 times each week. It is my only source for Disney DVD.

I found the site the exact same way as Loomis and Terry! Just searching for a guide of all Disney DVDs and I came to Lukey's site. I sent him various e-mails. I can still remember when I posted the review of treasure planet in the condom board it was the most hit thread in the condom board  we were small back then and sadly some of us are no longer here. :( Good times!

I am another one that found UltimateDisney through Google.

Last year, I was searching info on the Treasures DVDs and, of course, UD was on the search.

I didn't join the forums until sometime this year.

(edit, back in June)

I followed a link off Luke's HTF posts. I was particularly impressed when Luke agreed with me after a rant on the HTF I posted about Superbit discs being rip-offs. (Yes, I rant away on all the forums I join. Ah the Internet, so good for venting your frustrations)

I tend to agree on the superbit thing too. Most superbit "bit" data comparisons i've seen seem to indicate a theorethical possible 1dB improvement in mpeg2 compression artifacts, some 2dBs.

edited to change the word two into too.Note to self: Must get fresh marmalade.

It's not worth looking for. It wasn't an epic rant! It's just that the bulk of HTF members are incredibly uptight about these sorts of things, so it was refreshing to see somebody on the forum who agreed with me.

(Most of the HTF members have massive projection screens, state-of-the-art sound sytems and even pop-corn vending machines in their "viewing rooms").
