Future 2-Disc DVDs?
Yes, but there's a sequel due out sometime within the next 2 years and by then, the 2-disc Collector's Edition will have long been out of print. I'm fairly certain Disney will re-release it to promote the sequel, much like how they re-released A Bug's Life: CE to promote Finding Nemo. I suspect the same will happen with Tarzan as well.

I'm wondering if springing for the Fantasia Anthology now, which I'm considering, is worth it when Fantasia Platinum will be coming sometime in the future, likely accompanied by a SE of Fantasia 2000.

I wasn't aware that Emporer's New Groove CE ever went out of print in the first place? They might give it a price drop and get rid of the single-disc when the sequel comes, though.

Actually, it's just a prediction on my part. I believe Tarzan II's due next year and I just think it's likely that we'll see a re-release of the CE because Disney re-released Bug's Life to coincide with Finding Nemo. Since Tarzan was only the second 2-Disc released by Disney, it'd make sense that that would be the next title they revisit.Lumiere wrote:When does the Tarzan II is released???
Its only a rumor or is definite that Tarzan will be rereleased?
Oh, and I was wrong about Emperor's New Groove. Apparently the CE's still in print, which surprises me as that DVD was released years ago.

My guess would be that a Tarzan rerelease would have very little new to offer from the OOP CE, certainly not worth the upgrade, much like the reissue of A Bug's Life CE, and even The Princess Diaries SE (as I doubt there will be a movie ticket in Tarzan).
You never know, though... was there much on the laser disc that wasn't ported over to the DVD?

I'd say wait. It's very likely to be re-released because it went out print some time ago and I'm willing to bet that it'll be re-released for the sequel (why do I feel like this is the 3rd time I've said that...) which is due either in 2005 or 2006. Besides, the CE is pretty hard to find for a decent price.
Tarzan never came to laserdisc so all of the CE features were brand new. I, too, doubt anything new will be added for a re-release, but for those that don't own it, they might as well wait since the re-release will a) be more affordable, b) be easier to find, and c) will assuredly be in an amaray case so it'll better match the other 2-Discs.

I really hope you are right. So I decided not to buy it (was $38), but if doesn't get a rerelease you'll hear from me. Actually I like the double alpha, also the CE cover is awsome.
I actually got the OOP Bugs Life CE instead of the reissue just for the cover, also it was cheaper.
Thanks for the help btw.

Do you actually have confirmation of a "Tarzan 2"? Because I've seen a direct to video Tarzan and Jane, which I would assume one could classify as a "2", unless it's actually a 1 1/2 deal?
But seriously, you're the only people I've heard talk about it, especially as Disney seems to be turning to cg animation.

Tarzan and Jane is not Tarzan II. It is a compilation of episodes from the TV series with new wrap-around animation.
Tarzan II is a prequel to Tarzan, and will deal more with Tarzan growing up in the Jungle.
Tarzan and Jane was solicited with a sneak peek of Tarzan II (showing that they are not the same), but I don't think this appeared on the final disc (I have the UK disc, which is different anyway).

But Tarzan II is coming. Disney may have shut down traditional animation in the US, but their DisneyToon studios seem to be doing more 2D than ever before!

Does anyone actually know what the plot for Tarzan II is going to be? I am just wondering how that story is going to come along? I mean unless its going to be a whole Pochantas II deal going to England.2099net wrote:Tarzan and Jane is not Tarzan II. I just said what we know of the plot. It's going to be a prequel, and feature Tarzan growing up.
Some reports list Tarzan as a pre-teen, and others a s mid-teen. Personally I think the film may contain both time frames.
