The ones where there's animation on the character's hair are my favorites. I don't know why, but watching those moments in slow motion when I was a kid was a guilty pleasure for me.

That's not a guilty pleasure. That's just pleasure. There's nothing bad about well-animated hair!

Re: Walt Disney Animation GIFS in Slow Motion.
You're right, buddy. I was calling it guilty, because I would spend so much time looking at these moments in slow motion. Like, too much time.

Oh, I meant only the scenes with literal magic in them, VanessaFan.

Re: Walt Disney Animation GIFS in Slow Motion.
This is by far the most beautiful thread I’ve ever seen. Animation is so beautiful. I think we can all agree that when it comes to animation, nobody’s better than Disney (in fact, a lot of studios are actually way worse than Disney).
Hand-drawn animation always blows me away. It’s so amazing that Disney can bring to life such an abstract thing as lines on a page. But they do it so well anyway.
So kudos to VanessaFan, for this brilliant idea. And I’d like to add to this too:
[Link's broken. Sorry.]
Aah, such a brilliant display of using 3 speeds of movement during animation. Truly remarkable.

Thank you, Woodrow Pride for contributing to this thread.
(Even though your Pongo GIF is gone now)
But I saw it, and it was beautiful! There are so much realitic details in that one and some other ones from Lady and the Tramp, where Tramp stretches after waking up!

You’re welcome, Vanessafan! The world can never see enough good animation! I also have a question; how much do you slow down your gifs?VanessaFan wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 6:19 am Thank you, Woodrow Pride for contributing to this thread.![]()
Oh, that first one is really, really good. I love how she eases out there at the end. It’s just so perfect. And with that second one, I love the squash and stretch, the timing and how she pops up to take a look, and then drifts a bit before going closer.
There’s a certain unexplainable and unteachable timing that animation has, sort of like making the characters dance to unheard (but standardized) music, that you just have to learn from trial and error and watching good animation. It’s a certain way of movement, how you move, when you move, where you move–it’s just so beautiful. Does anyone else agree, or am I just crazy?
Oh, and here’s the Pongo gif (took a while to fix the link and it didn’t let me edit my last post):

Can you post a gif of Ursula with six arms?

I make my gifs in PhotoScape and slow them down with 60. I also make them with normal speed and that is 4.Woodrow Pride wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 10:55 am

Also, I guess, since you kind of “own” this thread, do you want to keep this thread to only 2D animation, or can I post gifs from 3D movies? And I don’t mean to be pushy (I know this thread is called “Walt Disney Animation GIFS in Slow Motion”) but what about Pixar?

Yes. Ever since I noticed that, it fascinated me.VanessaFan wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 4:49 pm
Farerb, I guess it's me you're asking? If so, is that the sequence in 'Poor Unfortunate Souls' you're thinking of? Where she's clapping her hands together, then apart really fast and then swims down to her cauldron?

Re: Walt Disney Animation GIFS in Slow Motion.
I know what you mean, Ursula has always been a facinating character to me, because of her octopus design. And even in her Vanessa design as well. Can you imagine Crash the Wedding scene with Ursula instead of Vanessa?
Here is the gif you requested.

Three cel set-up applied to a matching watercolor background of Ursula's cave.
Number of frames: 77 frames.
This one surprised me a little. When I made the gif, there were certain places where I was sure the Disney animators would have animated on the ones. They do, but I thought they would do it as Ursula puts her hands up to her face. But they didn't do that. But I do love the frame where Ursula suddenly grows 5 arms xD
