I have a question - Disney is no longer doing slipcovers for DVD only editions correct? At least, I never see them in stores. The last DVD I know for sure got a slipcover is Princess and the Frog. But I've been finding a ton of recent Disney DVDs on eBay with slipcovers. Now I know of course there are always some bootlegs on eBay, but I'm finding these all over the place. Are these really all bootlegs? Or did these DVDs get slipcovers?

All of these DVDs in these pictures are fake. No recent DVDs of Disney's have slipcovers.
Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.

Wow, I always knew to be wary of fakes when buying secondhand, but these copies are seriously all over eBay. In some cases there are many more of them than actual legitimate copies. That's crazy!

Just noticed Tangled doesn't have the "Disney" brand above the title on those slips.

They may be bootleg but they look like some pretty decent slipcovers
Settling Soul mates? That is grim. And I've played Monopoly alone.

I know, its annoying. I want to buy the last dvd versions of Alice & Pinocchio but I cant tell which ones are legit or fakes b/c the fake slipcovers are just as convincing as the real ones.

In most cases, reading through a seller's feedback score will give away whether they are dealing with fake items. Large quantities and cheap prices for brand new OOP titles should also raise a red flag. Also, beware of titles that are shrink wrapped from the outside including the slipcover and slipcovers with no stickers on them.

You can also always ask around here about a specific listing before you buy, I'll be happy to help as I'm sure many others will :)

These are 100% fake, as are 99% of this seller's other items. He also has the infamous bootleg of Snow White Platinum Edition with slipcover (which never happened) and the same Lion King DVD you asked about recently. I love how he/she states in the items' description "These DVD's may or may not have rewards or codes in them"
These two are authentic.
These two are authentic as well.

Hope this helps :)

EDIT: Just realized we strayed off topic, apologies! Is this thread from 2008 still the right one for this kind of discussion?

There's this Target exclusive edition of The Jungle Book, but it looks like it might be a bit different than the previous digibooks. It includes a storybook and CD, but if we go by the product image the packaging might not be in digibook style and simply have the storybook attached to the regular Blu-ray combo pack.

We'll have to wait until it comes out to know for sure.

Shame if they'd stop the book-styled packagings with The Jungle Book...

Frozen Target Exclusive Blu-ray Question

Post by stevemcqueen »

Aside from the bonus DVD disc, is everything else (packaging, artwork, slipcover, UPC number, etc.) on the Frozen Target exclusive Blu-ray expected to be 100% identical to the regular release??

Does anyone know? (based on past Target "bonus disc" exclusives perhaps?)

If they insist on recycling artwork, I hope they use the limited edition DVD cover for Hercules and not the one with Herc's huge head.

For Tarzan, I hope they use the special edition DVD artwork.

Yep other than that It's the same casing and everything. Actually The bonus DVD is usually in a sleeve of it's own and not in an extra disc slot sadly. At least that's how Target had done about every one of them before including Monsters University
