Thank you for that information.Hogi Bear wrote:I meant to post this a few days ago. But those tiny little scratches will have no affect on playback. No data is stored in that area. That area is where the disc is clamped on to the spindle, via a very powerful magnet (in comparison to fridge magnets anyway). Magnet mount sits on top of the disc to keep it secure, while the disc spins at high speeds. So if you have broken DVD/Blu-ray/CD player or Disc Writer/ROM and you need a reasonably strong, but small magnet, you can open up your player and take it from that.Matt wrote:I just don't like these little scratches on the center.
Just as a note, if anyone is interested, disc data is read from the centre going out in a spiral. The actual data area has no writing on it at all, it's just that one silvery colour area.
The disc to me looks legit too, has Technocolor stamped on it (which could be replicated, but I don't think they'd bother) and has those serial numbers and barcodes as well. Would have to be professionally stamped in a disc production factory to acquire that look too (disc data area), in which case a master would have to be produced. Not sure if boot leggers go to that extent or not, but if they do, the disc data image would be identical to the official discs, dates and all.
So I actually didn't make out bad here; let me explain,
I emailed the company back and forth and I got my point across that this was not a new DVD and that it was re-shrink wrapped. They never denied that this wasn’t used. They were also blaming it on the distributor which to me is a little fish, if you don’t know who is distributing your merchandise why are you evening using them lol? That made no sense to me.
So I actually submitted a claim to Amazon with all my evidence, including theirs as well and they refunded me the amount plus shipping cost! So I cannot go wrong with that even if it was used lol.
My whole point was that in the description it says new and clearly it’s not. I was lied to as a customer. I am sure there are other customer’s that were lied to as well. I would have left this alone if the shrink wrap wasn’t so fishy to me. I had a gut feeling when I took it out of the package and it looks like I was right and with the help of you guys too!
So thank you very much everyone!
