Skyler Shuler wrote:Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is back on the table. I don't know if it's for theaters or Disney Plus, but it's in development and they're looking for someone to write the first script. I don't how they're going to do it. I just know it's there on the drawing board. I believe it's a movie, not a series.

My English friends say Disney butchered the original book so they really should stick far away from it again.

In 2003, Guillermo del Toro was working on a live-action remake of The Wind in the Willows. Disney should get him back to direct that instead of making a movie based on the ride.
One of the projects del Toro spent time on in 2003 was a Disney adaptation of Wind in the Willows that was to mix live action with CG animation, and the director explained why he had to leave the helm. “It was a beautiful book, and then I went to meet with the executives and they said, ‘Could you give Toad a skateboard and make him say, ‘radical dude’ things,’ and that’s when I said, ‘It’s been a pleasure…'”

 I don't blame him there. I wonder if that was during the '00s when Disney was in that phase of trying to be "cool" (and failing at it). Maybe it would be easier for him now. But even now, I don't think very creative types like him would have much fun working with Disney, original story or otherwise.
