Best Disney Prologue In Your Opinion?

That's your complaint towards the tale, not the actual movie. Anyway, everything about the BATB opening is gorgeous: the music, the scenery... That striking shot of the castle and the waterfalls is breathtaking.

TREASURE PLANET: Jim Hawkins reads Treasure Planet.
THE LION KING: All the animals gather to see the new prince all while "Circle of Life" plays.
FINDING NEMO: Marlin promises to never let anything happen to Nemo shortly after a barricuda kills all of Nemo's siblings and his mom. The only one that almost brought me to tears.
TARZAN: Tarzan's parents are killed by a cheetah, and Tarzan is left in the treehouse.
LILO AND STITCH: Jumba is sent to prison while Stitch escapes to Earth.

I think I might start a "Best Disney movie ending" post.

Beauty and the Beast, colorfully tells us what happened to the Beast exactly.

Lion King, this one has a great song, great animation, just really starts off well.

Pooh's Grand Adventure, my little sister watched this one all the time, it really warms you up watching the beginning

Aladdin, starts off with one of the best songs in the movie, and tells us about the cave of wonders.

I don't agree with you about the song, but yeah, I love the Cave of Wonders!! One of my favorite characters in the whole movie. I love how it looks like a tiger and talks in a really deep voice. That beginning part when it rises out of the sand is one of my favorite parts of any Disney movie.

I forgot to mention Mickey's Christmas Carol, I think this is probably one of the best prologues besides the "The Journey" sequence in The Rescuers, the song Oh, What a Merry Christmas Day is a great song. Gotta love that!

I'd have to say that Beauty and the Beast is my favorite prologue, BUT...

Let's not forget that Snow White (SW singing in the courtyard by the well) & Dumbo (D's delivery by the stork) both had great prologues, too.

Neither opening is as big and splashy as the more recent films, but what better way to set the tone for each film? Beautiful Snow White, dressed in rags, showed us her goodness, innocence and purity in song. The slapstick humor of the stork also set the tone for the over-the-top comedic bits in Dumbo.

It seems like some of these older films tend to get over-shadowed by their newer brethren... I am the Lorax, I speak for the trees.

Lion King is the best, and BATB and TLM are close seconds. Snow White gets third

Thanks for your interest! The site where I read about it is no longer up, so I'm sorry but I can't give you a link. From what I remember:

I think it starts with paper puppets in front of a paper screen telling the story of Mulan. There is an old storyteller guy telling the story like Clopin and the guy in Aladdin did. Then the movie merges with the opening. But the really cool and freaky thing is the end. We go back to the paper screen theater place and the man finished ths story and the villagers clap, but then Shan Yu storms in and rips through the screen and all the villagers flee in terror. I think the storyteller man died. Okay, maybe it isn't something awesome, but definitely more interesting and provides a cliff hanger for the second part of Mulan. Yes, Mulan was meant to have a sequel. The storywriters had written so much for Mulan that they had enough for a trilogy.

Wait . . . unless I'm mistaken, that entire sequence was going to be in the beginning, with the storyteller telling about how the Great Wall was built and giving some back story, and then Shan Yu invading. The ending would have been the same. That would make more sense also, because by the end, Shan Yu is dead . . . right?

First rule of comics. Nobody is dead unless you see the body. And even then it can be broken *cough*Norman*cough*Osborn*cough*

I don't see why is should be different for Disney films (and their sequels)

The second rule of comics is we don't talk about Fight Club.

Treasure Planet's was pretty awesome.

i really like the Cinderella prologue. The narrator's voice is very comforting to me. And I like how they segue from pictures in a gold Cinderella book into the animation.

Yeah but it's very old fashioned. Don't get me wrong, I think it really fits "Snow White", "Cinderella" and "Sleeping Beauty" because they're the traditional fairy tales... But it won't fit a film like, say, "Tarzan" or "Aladdin" in my opinion. Maybe "Beauty and the Beast"

Oh, I totally agree. I miss it... but I don't think it's quite as applicable to a lot of the newer stuff. BATB def. Aladdin - maybe. It only works for prince/princess fairy tale kind of stuff.

Ya I miss the books. But it wouldn't really fit todays antimation unless it was another princess or fariy tale story.
