Afraid I don't like it. It looks completely mismatched to my eyes.
If Minnie Mouse were real I could imagine her trying it on at the store, looking at her reflection and then telling the assistant "It's nice and well-made, but it doesn't suit me. I'll look for something else."

She's only going to wear this pantsuit this March in honor of Women's History Month at the Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris. She's still going to wear a sparkly dress in the main Disneyland Paris Park for the 30th Anniversary.
That's why I don't understand where all this outrage came from!
Also, Minnie wore pants multiple times in the past!

The outrage comes from conservatives who want to turn everything into culture war faux outrage nonsense. They're pissed off about M&M's, too. That last picture of Captain Minnie is closer to what I would've liked the pantsuit to look like (just remove the cap and cuffs), red and with her heels. I would've liked the pants to be red, too, though.

I think the outrage is based on a number of things. First, people don't bother with the details. Most people complaining about this development aren't aware this is a temporary thing only for a specific event. Second, people have become sensitive to the perceived masculinization of female characters and other changes of established cultural icons or properties. They feel that female characters aren't allowed to have sex appeal or be feminine any more. Recently, Jessica Rabbit got covered up with a trench coat in Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. Just the other day, there was a story about a female M&M character getting redesigned to be less sexy. They must have thought this Minnie pantsuit story was more of the same. Third, outrage sells. People greatly profit from it, so of course they'll grab at any opportunity to feed the outrage machine.bruno_wbt wrote:That's why I don't understand where all this outrage came from!![]()
I have to agree that the pantsuit in question is not very flattering. The styling is too boxy and austere and the colors are too dark. The navy blue and the black polka dots drown out the character. All of the outfits you posted are much more aesthetically pleasing and complimentary.
In this case, yes, but liberals are also guilty of this practice.Disney's Divinity wrote:The outrage comes from conservatives who want to turn everything into culture war faux outrage nonsense.

I wasn't accusing you of anything personally, Sotiris. You were just posting the news story because it is news at this point; it's been making the rounds on The Daily Show, SNL, etc.

I never thought you were.
My point was that both sides are engaging in "faux outrage" as you called it and it's exhausting.

What faux outrage are you seeing from the left?Sotiris wrote:I never thought you were.My point was that both sides are engaging in "faux outrage" as you called it and it's exhausting.

Well, recent Disney-related examples include the outrage over the Snow White attraction including the true love's kiss scene and the controversy surrounding Raya and the Last Dragon not having enough Southeast Asian actors in its cast. I'm sure there are more.
