OH I love Maureen O Hara! I actually just bought her book a couple months ago but havent started it yet. Cant wait to check it out.


BUT anyway....yea someone just needs to delete this thread because its insulting and just bogus. We need to start a thread worthy of Ms OHara.

I adore Maureen O Hara.. but I just don't see how skippy wondering if she was a transvestite is in any way insulting to her or any of her fans. Skippy was simply asking an honest question he had while viewing one of her performances.

A two second search on the internet would have answered Skippys question if he really was serious about knowing the answer to that odd thought that entered his brain. The fact he brought it to the boards for discussion makes it come off as mean spirited and disrespectful, opening the door for further rude comments and speculation on something that is OBVIOUSLY not true.

Maureen is a wonderful FEMENINE beauty....one of the greats....and I doubt she would take such remarks as a compliment. Actually she would most likely tell you to get your eyes examined, just like many of us here suggest. lol

Although, I know it is impossible for anyone to see into my heart as to what my intent was, I was merely seeking more information about her and if what I thought might be true. I did use the word transvestite wrong, and for that I apologize.

My intent was not to disparage Ms. O' Hara or transvestites/transexuals, LGBT, etc. I must add that when I did watch this movie, it was 330 in the morning, covering a graveyard shift after already working my 12 hour day, and after my work week was supposed to be "finished" so sleep deprivation may explain the "strange" thought taking root.

Again my apologies to anyone that was offended, I wasn't "trolling".

In an act of contrition to you all, I will netflix some of Maureen O' Hara's earlier films and watch them.

Call me overly accepting, but I don't really think this thread merits a closing. But, guess what? If those of you who do not like seeing this thread stop posting in it, it will probably sink down into oblivion. Discussion forums work that way, you know.

Although I agree that skippy could have searched it, I still don't see how it seems mean spirited or disrespectful AT ALL. As he posted below you, he assures us that his intentions were pure.

Naturally born males can be VERY feminine. Take a look at German pop star Kim Petras. Probably more "feminine" than many naturally-born women. Although, Miss Petras is transgender, which is a big difference. Transgendered people will obviously be more feminine (or masculine) than transvestites. So, if you were originally offended by skippys' misuse of the word "transvestite", I can understand your initial reaction a bit more.

Oh, and I agree 100% that she was one of the greats. And like you said before, she does deserve a tribute thread for her fantastic movies, even though they are mostly non-Disney.

Thats good, I figured you meant that. Again, I do wonder if that is what offended so many people. But, I am glad you see your mistake and I hope your not offended by the people who think your post was offensive . Thank you for being so mature about the whole situation! Which is another reason why I can't possibly see why some were offended, besides, I suppose personal or religious beliefs, because you obviously weren't making a joke.

Seriously, I have absolutely NO idea how this thread even started. Maureen O'Hara is one of the most beautiful creatures to have ever stepped before the camera. In fact I believe at one point she was even dubbed "Queen of Technicolor".

She starred on Broadway in the musical "Christine", could easily negotiate her way between accomplished performances in both comedy and dramatic roles; and by all accounts is just as generous and loving in her personal life.

So Maureen O'Hara is one heck of a LADY in my opinion.
