The songs and score in The Rescuers are wonderful. I wish Disney had released a CD with the songs and score from some memorable scenes. I know the film's three songs are on specially marked The Rescuers Down Under CDs.

FACT: Madame Medusa was originally not going to be in the feature. Instead, they were thinking of reusing Cruella.

If a mod had a problem with this thread existing because there's already a The Rescuers thread, they would have merged it with the other one. I imagine if the other thread was revived at this point without a merging of the threads, people would post a reply in one thread and cross-post the reply to the other thread.

Yeah, we shouldn't bring threads from 2005 back from the death. It's a shame, though, that the previous Rescuers-discussion thread was only one page long. Granted, it's not as popular a title as The Lion King, but doesn't it deserve *some* love?

Question: only one of the songs from the film is up on YouTube in its original movie-version. The other two songs use the soundtrack-version, which sounds slightly different. On the soundtrack, Shelby Flint is clearly holding back in the singing. I prefer the movie-version. If possible, could somebody please upload the movie-versions?

The available movie-song is 'The journey'. In it, Disney uses its tight budget in a smart way. It doesn't animate the entire journey of Penny's bottle, but instead uses a series of still crayon (?) drawings. Not only is it cost-efficient, it also establishes the mood of the film perfectly and its sober beginning reflects Penny's poor chances of a better future.

I know there was some brief discussion in the "what DAC would you re-animate" topic about the look of the movie, and I want to echo Goliath's statement here. While the sketchy cel xerox look lets down some movies like "The Sword in the Stone" it fits the drab, gloomy '70s atmosphere of "The Rescuers" perfectly.

I read the Rescuers-thread provided by Duster and that argument came up there as well (the Xerox lines ruining the movie), but I'm glad you agree. And of course it's pastels! (*slaps forehead*)

Actually we are supposed to do that. Especially when that thread is very official with the name "The Rescuers Discussion". It should continue to be used until it reaches too many pages, and then a second one should be started, etc.

Reason necroing threads is weird concept to Goliath and I is because who wants to dig through ass-loads of threads in search function just to find the one you want post in? Most forums discourage necroing old threads.

Old threads can be resurrected (if the resurrect-or has something worthwhile to add) and, obviously, using the search option is always encouraged. However, it's primarily up to a moderator to determine what qualifies for merging and what doesn't. Moderators don't catch everything, though, and if there some similarly-themed threads out there, I hardly feel it's the end of the world. Since this thread has a poll attached, I think it's fine to leave it as is.

I've always loved "The Rescuers". It's a movie I can't revisit too often, however, because I tend to get caught up in it's emotion, and I hate bawling like a baby!

The parallels of Cruella and Medusa are absolutely fascinating to me. I just wish they'd been paired together in a "Rescuers" or "Dalmatians" sequel some point down the track. I love to think that Medusa was Cruella's *slightly* younger sister, driven to outrageous acts in a never-ending bid to remove herself from Cruella's imposing shadow.
