I'm trying to figure out how that works... :?

Also, The Great Prince is really one of your favorite character designs? I'd love you to talk more about that. I'm also surprised that if your top designs are from Cinderella you don't like that film almost as much as I do, but I guess it's because designs aren't as good as the actual characters. I dunno, if you ask me just being in that wonderfully designed world may be all the fun and joy I need!

Anyway, your lists inspired me to do the more easy things for me to pick. These lists may freak you out in how similar they are to yours but don't fret it you and me are still quiiiite different, obviously. ;)

Top Character Designs

1. Cinderella (at the ball, including the hair)
2. Maleficent
3. Ursula
4. Aurora
5. Fairy Godmother
7. The Three Good Fairies
8. The Blue Fairy
9. Cinderella's stepfamily
10. Hercules (yum!)

Almost made it: all the merpeople's tails in The Little Mermaid and The Enchantress from Beauty and the Beast

Top Locale/Object Designs

1.Cinderella’s Coach
2.The Palace from Cinderella
3.Ursula's Nautilus Shell
4.Ursula’s Lair
5.Ursula's Cauldron
6.The Tremaine Chateau
7.The Magic Mirror
8. Rapunzel's Tower
9. That mountainous thing in the opening of The Rescuers Down Under
10.Mt. Olympus

The rest, Notre Dame (their version of it), Snow White's Prince's Castle, The Forbidden Mountain (Maleficent's castle), The Fairy Godmother's Wand (I know, it's just a stick, but a nicely designed white stick that's perfect in it's simplicity!), the Blue Fairy's Wand, the Black Cauldron and Phallus Palace (Atlantica). ;P

Must be because I didn’t re-check a lot of it as I went, and because Tiana and Cinderella are very close to each other in my mind (I love them both about equally). :P

Another thing I noticed is that I completely forgot about the Cheshire Cat in my lists. :( Bothersome.

About the Great Prince, I don’t know why, but I absolutely love that scene when all the male deer gather. And then how the Great Prince comes up to Bambi and just kind of twists his ears. There’s something so regal and masculine about the character, that there’s no problem accepting that he’s a prince. There’s nothing much different between his design and any normal deer, I guess, but none of the other deer evoke that same feeling from me throughout the movie.

Isn't that more the animation and character of the Great Prince than his design? ??? I just looked at screencaps, and he is designed to be older and more majestic than the other deer, but I'm pretty sure what you're talking about is his character animation.

Oh, and you may not like this, but I don't know where else to say it...I think your Princess and the Frog banner and avatar...are...my least favorite. But that's like saying it's the least favorite in a lot of high quality, very good, all well-made group! I just think this one...not as good as the others.

Well I might as well do this, then:

Top Sidekicks/Comic Relief

1. Lucifer
2. Flotsam and Jetsam
3. Jaq and Gus
4. Chesire Cat
5. Pascal
6. Maximus
7. Timon and Pumbaa
8. Orville (from The Rescuers Down Under)
9. Flora, Fauna, Merryweather (but they're more like main characters!)
10. Thumper!

Almost made it: Kronk, and , if he counts, Eeyore.

I think the only thing I didn’t like about the set is that I couldn’t really come up with a border color that went well--the avatar has this weird green border, with a blue sky and spaghetti-colored picture of Tiana‘s restaurant, and all the colors clash. I should’ve just went with black or something (maybe I’ll change it now…), but, besides that, I really loved it myself. You might need to like the movie to enjoy it, I guess. I think it really has a gleam to it that reminds me of TP&TF’s magic scenes a lot. The big pearl in the middle at first seems kind of strange, but it’s the point in the movie where they begin to realize they’re in love. And it is Tiana’s engagement ring, so it makes sense.

The only problem I have as I go through these banners is I feel like I’m making a formula with the way they’re designed. But it’s hard to think of different ways to do them! I’ll probably do a movie from the 80s next whenever I have the time (I’m thinking The Great Mouse Detective).

Oh, and I remember I never told you: I remember you had commented on my TBC banner in some thread a while back, but I replied in the TBC thread (because I had been watching that film, and plus I didn't want to be off-topic). I'm not sure if I ever told you that--you probably thought I was giving you the cold shoulder.

So I’m not completely off-topic:

Top 10 Saddest Moments

1. "Baby Mine" (Dumbo) ~ The part that always gets me is, at the end, when Dumbo walks away, and you hear the chains as she runs to the other side of the enclosure so she can still see him.

2. Pinocchio’s Death and Resurrection (Pinocchio) ~ It always seemed so gruesome to me when the scene ended with a shot of Pinocchio face down in the water. One of the darkest (and the saddest) scenes I know, both as a child and an adult.

3. “Goodbye May Seem Forever” (The Fox and the Hound) ~ Kind of epitomizes loneliness.

4. Ariel and Triton Say Goodbye (The Little Mermaid)

5. Mufasa’s Death (The Lion King)

6. Cinderella’s Lost Faith (Cinderella) ~ I love the reprise of “ADIAWYHM” that plays during this scene. It’s so ghostly and sad. This part of the film was just so well-done, from Cinderella's crashed hopes that the Stepmother could ever love her, to having her real mother's dress torn to shreds, and the hopelessness of her situation.

7. “I’m Still Here” (Treasure Planet)

8. Tiana Remembers (The Princess and the Frog) ~ Facilier’s temptation scene at the end, when Tiana looks back on how her father worked himself to death to get somewhere and all she ever saw was a man whose dreams never came true, only to realize he had a family he loved and a daughter who loved him.

9. John Smith’s Departure (Pocahontas) ~ I can't remember exactly everything that happens, but I remember always crying at this scene. I think the part that was the most tearjerking was the way Pocahontas acts calm as Smith's taken away to the boat, and how she slowly walks toward the cliff as her father watches, and she's trying to be reserved and not show emotion, before she finally gives up the act and goes on a full-on sprint.

10. Megara’s Death (Hercules) ~ Although somewhat undercut by the fact that she’s brought back minutes later (like most Disney deaths: SW, Baloo, Trusty, Pinocchio, etc.), this scene’s always had an impact me. Even Hercules’ struggle in the river to reach her soul/spirit is fairly poignant--it vaguely reminds me of the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, and since the movie is such a mish-mash, maybe that’s not a surprise.

(11. Lewis Gets A Home (Meet The Robinsons) ~ The ending, when Lewis leaves the orphanage's headmother with Lucille and her husband. It’s always sad to me that she has to let the children go. Plus, I love when he hugs his new parents at the end, and then the “Keep Moving Forward” quote at the end.)

Oh Divinity, I actually saw that. I didn't comment because I wanted to see the Black Cauldron again before I read your analysis, but I think I'll do it anyway because I was going to wait for The Black Cauldron on Blu-ray, I dunno if I will.

The movies follow a Disney formula, so your banners can, too! I'm just kidding, I bet you want to find what's unique in all the films, and I'm sure you can find it. Your banner may mean a lot of things, and I think that's really cool, it does make me feel a little seeing Naveen's face in that pearl, but I think I just don't like the banner aesthetically. I'm sorry... :( But like I said it's still among the best kind of banners I've ever seen. :)

As for the saddest moments thing, I couldn't do that, but I will say you and Cherny did really good ones. I never thought Ariel was leaving her life under the sea, I always thought, perhaps because Disney films always end happily, that she would get to see her family when they came up to shore, just like they were there at her wedding. However, I do think it gives a kind of mixed feeling of happy, sad, and just love, that has made many cry. And I'm also glad you noticed Cinderella's. Just in case you wanted to know, Walt said of that scene, that when they are singing, they are "throwing her faith back at her". Which I suppose is why she says "No it isn't true." The choral singing in this movie is so...mysterious, a reason I love it.

Orville is from The Rescuers. The albatros from the sequel is named Wilbur.

Saddest moments in Disney animated movies:

1. Medusa telling little Penny that nobody will ever love her (followed by the song 'Someone is waiting for you').

2. Grumpy bursting out in tears at the sight of 'dead' Snow White.

3. Triton destroys Ariel's cavern and the statue of Eric. Ariel completely breaks down and, in tears, asks her friends to leave her alone.

4. Mowgli thinking Baloo has been killed by Shere Khan, and Bagheera's speech praising Baloo's courage.

5. Belle confessing her love for the Beast when he's dying, pleading him not to leave her. Especially the reaction of Cogsworth consoling Mrs. Pott when the last leave of the rose has fallen.

6. Old Trusty seems to have died. Jock is howling by the body of his old friend.

7. Pocahontas and John Smith wave each other goodbye at the end of the film.

8. Stitch with his book about the 'Ugly Duckling', all alone in the forest, saying: "I am alone..."

9. The little donkey who can still speak and cries that he wants to go to his mommy when the evil coachman wants to put him in one of his crates to send him to the salt mines.

10. The scene in which it appears Flynn Rider has given his life to set Rapunzel free from Gothel.

(Edited to replace Hunchback with Stitch)

WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD FOR "MUSIC OF THE HEART!"To not reveal any spoilers, I decided to put everything in my post in white.
The Top Saddest Moment in Disney
The scenes in Music of The Heart where Ramon says "Drop dead, Justin!"And Roberta finds out that Justin was a victim in a drive-by shooting, and he was shot. Roberta says "Does anyone want to talk about this?" Ramon says, "I think we should just play the violin." I think he said this because he was upset about what he said. Another scene that I find sad in this movie is where Guadalupe wants to quit Roberta's class because she can't stand strong. Roberta tells Guadalupe about Itzak Perelman, a musician who plays beautiful music sitting down. Guadalupe says "Was he in your class?" Roberta says "He wasn't, but if he was, I am about to tell you the same thing I would to him. You can not give up something you love just because it is hard.

I forgot to say Divinity the way you described how Tiana saw her father as a man who's dreams never came true really kinda hit me, and if that's really what the film conveys (that Tiana thinks that) there's more to the film than I first realized.

Oh, yea I thought it was Wilbur, but then I looked to get his name right and the site said Orville. I do personally like Wilbur better. Anyway, when you talk about your first one, doesn't that song come on the beginning of the movie? So what you mean is that that song would be number 2, or rather, a tie?

The song at the beginning of The Rescuers is 'The journey' (sometimes referred to as 'Who will rescue me?'), in which you see the journey of Penny's bottle from the bayou to New York City. The song 'Someone's waiting for you' comes right after Medusa has told Penny: "What makes you think ANYBODY would want a HOMELY little girl like you?"
