Do you really think Tim Curry is THAT much of a name? I mean, he's better known than Andrew Lee Potts, but do you think Joe Average is going to see the DVD and say "Tim Curry! Now I HAVE to buy this!" or something?
More than likely, it would be something negotiated in relation to his billing in the movie.
Actually, yes, I do. Not "Joe Average" though. But you underestimate the power of Tim Curry. I know people who will buy any movie he is in. Regardless of the role and length of time he is playing that role. Or even how lame the role is *cough*Lion of Oz*cough* He has a large cult following. And those people will buy anything he is in.
And you are probably right, its probably in his contract to get top billing for his 6 minutes...because he knows his name sells.

I think his cult following (I wouldn't call it large, but...) would have bought it regardless of whether his name was on it or not. If you're part of the Curry Clan, you'd be buying it just for him to begin with.
"Ta ta ta taaaa! Look at me... I'm a snowman! I'm gonna go stand on someone's lawn if I don't get something to do around here pretty soon!"
I am part of the Curry clan, to a point. Anything he's in, I'll watch it. But I won't always buy it. I watched Alice in large part, because he was in it.
And I am buying it because I enjoyed the movie and Andrew.
So sorry, you are wrong. I think they underused him terribly and his role was a disappointment. But if not for him being it, I might have skipped it and missed a movie I ended up liking anyways.
Still don't see how that makes me wrong, given how you'd see the movie regardless and any devoted fan would probably have done so too and know how large his role was, but whatevs... If you were a big fan, you'd probably at least be renting it / catching it on TV to begin with. I can't imagine any hard-core Tim Curry fans seeing it and saying "I did not know Tim Curry was in this, but I desperately need this!"
"Ta ta ta taaaa! Look at me... I'm a snowman! I'm gonna go stand on someone's lawn if I don't get something to do around here pretty soon!"
You missed my point...I meant your were wrong about your assumption about ME. I can't speak for anyone of the other fans. You said if I was part of the Curry Clan (which I guess I am), I am only buying it because he is in it...which is wrong.
I don't mean the specific Siren you, I meant the rhetorical "you" Curry Club member, the one who would already know he was in a miniseries and want to blind-buy it.
"Ta ta ta taaaa! Look at me... I'm a snowman! I'm gonna go stand on someone's lawn if I don't get something to do around here pretty soon!"
Oh, the idiocy amazes me on Lionsgates and Syfy's part.
The DVD and BluRay were released today. I bought just the DVD, because sadly, it appeared to be a barebones BS. Turns out, there is audio commentary by Catrina and Nick. And its an extended cut of the movie. The deleted scenes were inserted into the movie. You wouldn't know it from the package or advertising at all! Not even a sticker that says, "Extended/Directors Cut".
I'll pick up the BluRay tomorrow just to see if they forgot to advertise anything for that too.
