Universal "flipper" BD/DVD discs coming to Bourne

I don't care how much "care" you give these flipper-discs. They're a wretched idea, and a cheap way of trying to get new customers. Thank goodness I got the boxset for The Bourne Trilogy and not these sure to be lame-duck individual releases.

My DVD for "Treasure Planet" glitches up a bit, but it was always like that. Usually, if I fast-forward and then rewind it back once or twice, it plays normal. Could that be a sign of rot? Because it did that from the moment I got it.

Might be. It just could be a bad disc. Have you tried it on other DVD players? Sometimes I find it's not the disc but the player causing the problem.

I did try it on another DVD player, but I can't remember whether it did that or not, to be honest. The glitch reminded me of what 101 Dalmations did once when it was smudged: a new scene starts, about 3 seconds in, it will freeze for about a second and then jump to a place 5 seconds later. (It's always during the first scene where Silver adresses his pirates after Scroop's confrontation with Jim). It doesn't bother me too much since I can usually get it to go normal by fast-forwarding and then rewinding once or twice and the rest of the film plays alright (except for a mildly annoying layer transition, but that can't be helped), but if it has potential to get worse, I would like to know ahead of time....

The problem with layer rot is you really can't tell when and if it will strike. Typically, discs affected with layer rot will start pausing and pixillating on and around the layer change. Skipping and other such issues sound like the disc itself may need cleaning.

Any advice on a disc that gets to a scene, freezes completely, and makes me have to skip a chapter and rewind the farthest I could without the thing freezing again?

I for one really despise "filpper discs". They are far easier to scratch and they just look really dull. I only hope filpper discs for Blu-Rays are more scratch-resistant.
