I completely agree!!! I sold off my GC Pete's Dragon DVD shortly after learning that that film would be rereleased, but I guess I haven't read anything about any bonus features for this that makes me want to sell my GC and buy this one instead. But I'd absolutely buy this if it had
"Step In the Right Direction". I had to read Kelvin's DVD review, since it's been a while since I've popped in the DVD, but the bonus features are pretty great on the current DVD, so without any reincluded footage, I probably won't be double-dipping on this title.

At best the only new stuff we'll likely get is the 8-minute "Wizards of Special Effects" featurette that was passed by BBFC some months ago.

Count me in as well for those hoping that "A Step in the Right Direction" has been found and included (though I'm sure if it has, there would have been news and it wouldn't have been made a "Surprise! Look, we found it!" revelation when the DVD hits shelves).

Actually, what I'd prefer more than "A Step in the Right Direction" is the 117-minute theatrical version via seamless branching. Sure, it's shorter than intended, but I grew up watching that version on rental tapes and even though I've grown used to the re-instated footage done in 1996, half the time it still sticks out like a sore thumb for me. "Mango Wuzzle" especially, and I'm fairly certain I've complained about it aplenty in the past.

If not for his review, I would have left UD a couple months after I joined.

And now I expect some members will say "Dammit, Kelvin, why did you have to write a Bedknobs and Broomsticks DVD review that prompted Escapay to stay here?"

Wow, my one-sided, sophomore grammar had that much power (for better or worse ;))? Frightening thought...

In Robert Stevenson related news the director has made TCM's top 15 overlooked director's list, ranking number 13. Thought that was good of them to recognize him and his work.

Did you know? - - Just prior to George Lucas and Steven Speilberg's huge success in the late 70's, Stevenson was celebrated as the highest grossing film director of all time!

Makes sense with stuff like Mary Poppins, The Love Bug and The Absent Minded Professor on his resume.

omg i likee this movi€ soooooooo much! but i dont think the cover art is green enuff! and ppl r going to complain bcoz itz called an enchated edition and there gonna think tht their buying enchanted the movie with aimee adams!!!!

Serious opinion: Nice to see Bedknobs and Broomsticks coming back again, even if it's likely just going to be a 1 discer! The cover looks nice enough as well, even if it does seem to copy the typical platinum-esque covers (but hey, don't all Disney DVDs and Blu-Rays do that these days? :-p). I'm not sure if I'll completely go out of my way to buy this myself, but I would probably add it to my Amazon wish-list.

I have never seen this movie before, but I can honestly say that is one of the worst subtitles for a special edition (Right up there with Pete's Dragon High Flying Edition). That cover also looks kind of lacking.

Really Off-Topic, but Angela Lansbury just became the 2nd woman to win her 5th Tony. It's exciting!

I'm really excited to see this confirmed, but will contain that excitement until we see a sellsheet, press release, or at least further details. Of course, I'm bummed that it's apparently not coming to Blu-ray and won't even be a 2-disc DVD. Like Pete's Dragon, though, there's just no way I won't be getting them -- I love these movies too much. So lame that neither of them (nor Mary Poppins) are going Blu. I guess a new DVD release is at least "a step in the right direction". The best part about a new release is that (hopefully) a lot of new people will be introduced to the movie.

As for the coverart, it's not quite as eye-popping as it could be but it's a 100% improvement over the awful coverart for the previous release.

I'll join all of you in hoping for the "Step in the Right Direction" sequence, but I'll also keep those hopes subdued.

Cool! I forgot the Tonys were tonight so I missed the first hour, including that. Bummer.

I think this re-release is going to be a waste of money. Just my gut feeling. :(

And that has to be the first Angela Landsbury doll ever made...I mean I don't see a Murder she wrote doll with her and a murderer to go with it

What's next....Is somone going to find in the attic a never known about Winnie the Pooh massaging chair with full piglet swine flu feature :P ??

From the Front Page:
Details have been released on September 8th's Bedknobs and Broomsticks: Enchanted Musical Edition. The slipcovered single disc will boast a digitally restored and remastered transfer of the 139-minute cut, the deleted song "A Step in the Right Direction", featurettes "The Wizards of Special Effects" (new) and "Music Magic: The Sherman Brothers" (old), and more to be announced.
Hmm, remastered huh? Do I smell a Blu release in the near future? Haha.

That is one of the most disturbing Disney-related items I have ever seen.
