You don't have to remember the director's name, but you should recognize how Daffy has evolved over the decades:

I prefer the egotistical, self-centered, greedy Daffy, which was how Chuck Jones portrayed him. Daffy is a comic exaggeration of human behavior unchecked and without restraint. And he makes no apologies for being that way -- he even admits it ("Because I am greedy!" -- Daffy in "Ali Baba Bunny"). It's like what a lot of us would be if we could get away with it.

The Bugs vs Daffy debate comes up pretty regularly with fans, and Daffy gets accused of being a jerk...which he can be. But it's Bugs I don't care for -- he comes off as a jerk a LOT more than Daffy. And sometimes I just don't find it amusing when Bugs annoys other characters without provocation.

There are also some similarities between Daffy and Donald, although Donald's a little more of a hot-head and Daffy is at least tolerant for a while before he blows his top. But ironically, they are each my favorite character from WB and Disney respectively. I just find them both very amusing and entertaining.
