As much as I'd love to own this one, it's Blu or No Deal, Disney. You're gonna give us Bolt on DVD and Blu-ray the same deal (it should be very easy to guess what the "concurrent release" is), so do the same with this, give this out on both formats, and for the love o' Pete, DON'T MAKE THE SECOND DISC A DIGITAL COPY! If you insist on giving us one, give us the option of the 2-disc set or a 3-disc set with a digital copy.
Who wants to bet they were initially holding this back to coincide with the release of Bolt (given that they were both Sanders projects) until events took a unforseen turn?
Any suggestions as to what God awful name they'll give this?
I'm guessing "Lilo and Stitch: 2 Disc Hula Hula Give us your Moolah" edition.
Amazingly, the front page press release summary only seems to include features that were on the previous single disc release! What goes through the minds of Disney's marketing people!
The way to sell a two disc DVD, is not to only draw attention to what is already on the readily available single disc release!
Really, if this is like the International two disc release, the fact that they don't consider a 2 hour plus documentary or filmmakers' commentary worthy of a bullet point on the PR (but a crappy available before on the single disc A-Teens music video is worthy of a bullet point) just goes to show how Disney sees its audience.
BTW, will any tweens today actually remember who the A-Teens are?
?GREAT! i almost bought the UK edition with edited scenes. i hope its an identical release. now i can use the money i saved to buy other titles from UK.. wipee!

Excellent point, 2099net. Which is why I am really hoping the second disc has bonus features and is not just a "digital copy" as others have wondered if it might be.
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag"- Mary Poppins
"How high does the sycamore grow? If you cut it down, then you'll never know"- Pocahontas
"I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether he be six or sixty. Call the child innocence." - Walt Disney

Frankly, I would have felt more comfortable with that, but what are ya gonna do. If it has the same special features as the R2 release, they can call it "Lilo & Stitch: The 'Fund John Lasseter's Family Vacation to Hawaii' Edition" for all I damn well care.
And I echo the "don't include a digital copy" sentiment. PLEASE. Or at the very least, don't drop something, you know, relevant in order to include it.
"Ta ta ta taaaa! Look at me... I'm a snowman! I'm gonna go stand on someone's lawn if I don't get something to do around here pretty soon!"
Like everyone, I hope this is the Special Edition 2-Discer out overseas and nothing less (well, it could do without the A-Teens video).
Hm, I think it's just a coincidence they're launching the same day (BOLT and this)... I mean, they really cut Sanders off. By now, everyone knows BOLT wasn't even remotely its former project that Sanders worked on. His name wasn't in the credits, the 'Art of' book...anything! So do they really think they're attracting any Sanders fans with the simultaneous release?
Yay, two awesome releases just three short months away!
Now, I don't want to sound blasphemous because I'm posting on their boards but how reliable is Ultimate Disney's news posts? I mean, where's the official online press release with Disney's heading and everything?

Thanks, Luke.
I googled "Big Wave Edition" to see if any other DVD sites got wind of it yet (they didn't, as usual) and it led to danfrandes' topic!
I guess this explains why The Aristocats was a single-disc set! He DID say he didn't want a two-disc. Thankfully, it looks like danfrandes doesn't wield all the power at BVHE, as it wasn't given TonyWDA's moniker "Groovy Jazz Edition".

It did, however, get "A Walt Disney Jazzy Classic" banner. Sounds like a compromise dan must have agreed to.
It's about time. I've been holding out on buying this one for a while in hopes that the rumors of a double disc edition would come true. Alas, they have! I will definitely be adding this to my collection.
This situation seems different than the others, though. In this case, a 2-Discer already exists outside of the country that people have imported but gravely want Region 1. The other 2-Disc sets that got scaled down to 1-Disc sets just never existed, period. They were promised as 2-Disc but never existed in that form.
Do you get what I mean? Like, we really know what we'd be missing this time - for Tarzan, etc., we more guess at what we missed.
Actually, there is a 2-disc Tarzan DVD. I have it. It came out about 6 months after the first single disc release and was called "Collector's Edition". That is why everybody was so upset when the announced 2-disc Special Edition ended up being a single disc release.
The Emperor's New Groove made its DVD debut with two options, single disc or 2-disc Collector's Edition. When Disney rereleased TENG Special Editon on DVD (the same day as the Tarzan Special Edition), it was also just the single disc edition.
Peter Pan was released as a 3-disc set in some countries, but in the US, it was released as a 1 disc Special Edition. The set included both films (Peter Pan and Return to Neverland) and a third disc of bonus material. We didn't get a multi disc set until 2007.
