One: Efron is way too young and he looks NOTHING like Depp. (And I don't like him or his non acting ability either.)
Two: This screams fake from the onset. I'd almost bet money this "news" came from the same person who claims Cher is in the running to play Catwoman in the third Nolan Bat-film.
Depp has expressed that he would love to do more Pirates films (aside from the fourth), because he loved playing Jack Sparrow. I can't see him (or Disney) giving the role up to this new-and-upcoming star. Depp has been in the business before Efron was even born, so take that as you will.
I'm pretty sure what is happeneing is that there would be a new character for Efron, he wouldn't be taking depp's character, just replacing the characters spot with a new one. Similar to replacing a villian in a superhero film, for example. Batman Begins: The Scarecrow as The Dark Knight: The Joker

Even if he is in the movie, I doubt it'll be anything that will ruin the movie(if it isn't ruin already).

Anyway, all i'm saying is that it's a little unfair to assume Zac would ruin a film when really it's just a blurb that he might be in it. Afterall in my opinion Orlando Bloom's character is really whimpy and at times makes me hate all 3 films lol.

The train wreck that was At World's End turned me off the pirate franchise for good (not to mention that Disney is sucking to franchise to the point of skin and bones). Though honestly, I've been unimpressed with the franchise past Curse of the Black Pearl.
I dont blame Zac for not wanting to do anymore HSMs. They really should just put an end to that franchise after the third film. And the idea of him being in a British play like Equus is just plain ridiculous.
