I don't know about Cleo, but I'm sure that Figaro will make the cover art. I wonder who's going to be above the title (as per other PE DVDs). I know Pinocchio certainly will be above the title, but who else? Probably Jiminy Cricket. It could look like the Peter Pan DVD which has Peter and Tinker Bell above the title on the cover.Simba3 wrote:Speaking of cover art, I'm already salivating at the wonderful possibilities for the cover art for this release. It hasn't been released in quite some time so an update is long overdue. I'm hoping that Figaro and Cleo make the cover, because I really like them. Platinum Edition covers like to pack the cover with many of the films different characters, so I'm sure they will make it.
Any other thoughts or ideas on what the cover art should look like?
Anyway, I'm excited about the Pinocchio DVD coming out. It's one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE Disney movies and I have the GC DVD. I have a feeling, though, that the video quality will be the exact same as the UK DVD release, which has a bit of a blue tint.

I am ashamed to say that I've never seen Pinocchio. I have read tons about it though, so I'm familiar with the storyline and characters. I just never caught the DVD on a previous release, they must have been before I seriously started my Disney DVD collection. I can't wait to buy this one and watch it with my kids - and a PE at that!
Do any of you with Blu-Ray players now have the temptation to buy new Disney releases on both Blu-Ray and Standard DVD? My problem is that we only have one Blu-Ray player, on the main TV in the living room. So if my kids want to watch some of the new movies I've bought on Blu-Ray (like Meet the Robinsons and Ratatouille), they can't do it in their rooms. If I could just win the lottery, this wouldn't be a problem!

I don't know about the rest of the world, but at least in the U.S., we didn't get the Special Edition, but I have no clue as to why. That's why we're all so excited for this release!atlanticaunderthesea wrote:The Pincchio edition that came out in the UK from a while back was a Special Edition; did the rest of the world not have one ?
I think that "Pinocchio" should be released before "Sleeping Beauty", since "Pinocchio" has been out of print here since 2002, and "Sleeping Beauty" has been out of print only since 2004...
...I didn't realize, though, that "Sleeping Beauty" went into the Vault so quickly. I remember the Special Edition of SB came out in 2003- wasn't it the fall of 2003 (maybe I just bought it in the fall, I don't know)...so, SB is worthy of a rerelease, I guess, since it was out for less than a year...I hadn't thought of that before (but I was just looking at UD's OOP list.

They"ll release Sleeping Beauty in Ocotber becuase all the Disney Princess movies are released in October and Aurora has more merchandise then Pinocchio (speaking of merchandise,do you think they"ll release Jimminy merchandise with the Platinum Edition?blackcauldron85 wrote:I think that "Pinocchio" should be released before "Sleeping Beauty", since "Pinocchio" has been out of print here since 2002, and "Sleeping Beauty" has been out of print only since 2004...

Pluto Region 1, that article's relatively old, but anyway, that same article said,
And so 2-discs DVDs will still be made, even beyond the Platinums...well, we hope.As for us hardcore animation fans ... Not to worry: WDHE's business plan does eventually call for two disc editions of these new Disney / Pixar films to hit store shelves. But usually two to three years after the release of the original DVD versions of that same movie. More to the point, the multi-disc editions of these films will deliberately be sold at a much higher price point. So that the Mouse gets the maximum amount of return off of what is then basically a library title.

I hope they include a section called: CARTOON SHORTS. This movie is one of the few whose characters went on to lead other lives in the short subject field. What they could do is create a section and separate them between FIGARO and JIMINY CRICKET. The "Figaro" section would include three of his cartoons (I'm thinking of: 1) "Figaro and Cleo"; 2) "Bath Day"; 3) "Pluto's Sweater" (or maybe "Cat Nap Pluto")). The "Jiminy Cricket" section would feature three of the I'm No Fool shorts, two of which had been included on the overseas DVD (I'm thinking of: 1) "I'm No Fool With Fire"; 2) "I'm No Fool Having Fun"; 3) "I'm No Fool In Water"). "Fire" and "Having Fun" were included on the overseas DVD.
And let's not forget the theatrical trailers. They will probably include the original 1940 trailer, but which else might they include? If they port over anything from the laserdisc, they will probably include the trailers from 1984 and 1992.

Hmmm... I wonder why they do this, releasing princess movies in October. Maybe to get little girls to buy princess costumes for Halloween?Ariel'sprince wrote:They"ll release Sleeping Beauty in Ocotber becuase all the Disney Princess movies are released in October and Aurora has more merchandise then Pinocchio (speaking of merchandise,do you think they"ll release Jimminy merchandise with the Platinum Edition?).

*whoo hoo* I can't believe one of my fav. films is FINALY coming to Platinum *eek* Thank you Disney, and I agree with Amy (Blackcaludron85) bout Pinocchio coming 1st and after Pinocchio we should have Fantasia be next too. I know it'll defintly be filled to the brim in Artwork materieal, defintly have the orignal trailer along with some re-issue trailers. I can't wait to check out the full length Makin doc. of the film along with surviving voice track of Mel Blanc's recordin of Gidon.
As for cover art, we'll defintly have Pinocchio, Jimminy C. on top and bottom might have Gepetto, Stromboili,Honest John and Gidon will probaly let make the front cover due to their popularity.

Though I wish it would look more like this:

I love that poster. I fall asleep every night looking at it.

I like both of those posters. The first one is cool because it includes pretty much all of the characters. I also prefer the way the title (Pinocchio) is written/designed in this one. The second one is really beautiful, I love how the Blue Fairy is in the sky above the star and how the star is shining down on Pinocchio. I love the colour combination of the yellow, white and blue in the second poster. If they used the second posters illustrations/picture and the first posters text (change the colours from red to blue with a yellow outline) I think they could come up with an amzing cover. Thanks for sharing those Widdi !

No but i do think it is something about marketing, maybe the Princess films will sell more so they sell them in October or maybe it's because each Princess gets her year (2005-Cinderella,2006-Ariel,2007-Giselle,2008-Aurora,2009-Tiana and more) so when they sell in October the same Princess gets all the year (let's say-a few months they"ll begin all the Aurora merchandise for the Sleeping Beauty Platinum Edition until the next summer and then they'll make all the Tiana merchandise).Barbossa wrote:Hmmm... But they could release a princess movie as the spring release and the princess still has her year. I think it has to do with making money off of Halloween costumes. A great way to brain wash kids!Ariel'sprince wrote:No but i do think it is something about marketing, maybe the Princess films will sell more so they sell them in October or maybe it's because each Princess gets her year (2005-Cinderella,2006-Ariel,2007-Giselle,2008-Aurora,2009-Tiana and more) so when they sell in October the same Princess gets all the year (let's say-a few months they"ll begin all the Aurora merchandise for the Sleeping Beauty Platinum Edition until the next summer and then they'll make all the Tiana merchandise).

Not really, when they release it in October (which is also the beginning of the school year) they have the Princess for all the year, maybe people buy things in October then in March?.Barbossa wrote:But they could release a princess movie as the spring release and the princess still has her year.
