Jasmine wanted freedome, not to give up on being a princess.
By the way-i"m glad that they are making Belle in golden dress,it's pretty and it's from the best sence and song in the movie and i can't her blue dress.
In an episode of The Little Mermaid TV series, Ariel and Flounder were washed up on thes shore. When they woke up, Ariel told Flounder he shouldn't be out of the water, and then Floubder said she shouldn't be either. Ariel needs water to live. I don't know if she can breath on land or not, but she can't be on land for a long time. And the reason she doesn't have gills is probably because that would look gross and not beautiful!

I'm also glad the princesses are always shown in their fancy ballgowns. But I would like to see a little more of them in their other outfits.

Yeah,i remember that episode (Wish Upon A Starfish),she can't live there but she don't have gills or she's some mutent fish or something like some people think, and yeah, that whould be gross.
Maybe Aurora whould be nice as Brair Rose but Belle's blue dress sucks.
Also i liked that in the Disney version merpeople are just humans under the sea (it's like this-if you're on land, you're a human,if you're on sea, you're a merman).

I just though about something-
Why all the Princesses appear in their fancy ballgowns and only poor Mulan appear in her working clothes? why they don't show her more in her pink dress when she when to the matchmaker or the blue dress when she fought Shan Yo? i"m sure more people (and also all the little girls that likes the princesses just becouse of their dresses) will like her in her pink dress,it's also more gives her a chiness look.

perhaps it's because Mulan's not a "girly girl" as in she doesn't seem to care much for dresses and makeup etc. She's always come across to me as a bit more of a tomboyish character, so she probably preferred the work clothes instead.

So are you saying that Cinderella and Aurora are stupit girls that only cares about make up and dresses? they're not.
It's just showing the character,it's not saying that they only care about make up and dresses (also-i remember that Ariel hate jewels and make up).

I think you might have misread a bit Ariels Prince. I never said Cinderella and Aurora were stupid, nor that they only care about makeup and dresses. I was simply comparing notes about one aspect of them since that was what your question was concerning :)

Oh,allright but still,i don't see why showing Mulan in pink dress is any different then showing Aurora in pink dress or Belle in Bellgown.
Showing her in some dress dosn't mean that she's only care about dresses.

Like I said, I feel all the dresses represent the dream the princess wanted and recieved at the end of their film. Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty all were treatedlike peasants or slaves, and eventually wanted a prince, so they got their princess dresses. Belle wanted adventure to be with the Beast who was a prince, she got her princess dress. Ariel wanted to be human, so I would like to see more of her humn in a princess dress. Jasmine wanted to choose her prince, she got a princess dress. But Mulan hated convention and what she really wanted was to fight and be equal compared to other men. You could say she wanted to fit in with the fancy-dressed girls at first, but se was always more comfortable in plain working clothes.

Good point,altought-does her working clothes shows her dreams? the blue dress is more her dream, isn't it?.
And Ariel does hate jewels,right?.

I would say that the dress Mulan wears when she defeats Shan-Yu and the Emporer addresses her and everyone bows down before her is the one that represents her dreams coming true.

As for Ariel, I'm guessing some episode of the series had Ariel not liking jewels. I wouldn't say that really counts since only the first original movie should count. Also, I would think she would like jewels but she doesn't want to be a princess who just sits on a throne all day and wears jewels all the time. They would weigh her down and she couldn't go adventuring!

When did she say she didn't like them, and what was the context (like, how did she say it in relation to the whole story and other things she said?)

Yeah,it's more fits and i remember seeing her with that dress in the Princess marchandise before the working outfit.
There were and some comics of her disliking jewels, and yet, they show her wear a pile of jewels in some Princess stuff, well,i think she was saying that she looked werid and she dosn't seems to like them, she also allways ask her sister to help her since she dosn't understand.

it would have to be Ariel's. it reminds me so much of Princess Diana's (RIP) wedding dress which was stunning!
