There is so much to say, I...I cannot find the words. Except for these: Disney Dust wrote:I think Somewhere in Time is a movie my step-grandmother had that she gave to my grandmother, and they both loved/love it. But I'm not sure...I will ask my mom if it's with Christopher Reeves and other things to see if it's the same movie.
It is, and once you see it, you'll know who said the quotename.

Of course, I could have easily used "Come Back to Disney Dust", but that wouldn't make much sense.
The film was Reeve's first movie role post-
Superman, and is very beautiful to look at and listen to. It's such a breathtaking depiction of 1912, and John Barry's score is easily in my top 10 favorite movie soundtracks (and is one of the few I actually bought on CD rather than download online). The story is a bit farfetched (I'll let you discover it when you watch), but that's easily overlooked by the sheer *want* by the audience to have these two characters together. I literally fell in
love with the movie when I first saw it, and make it a point to try and view it at least once a month* simply to have that feeling I get when I watch it.
What do you think Disney Duster is gonna do? / He's gonna be a fry cook on Venus! wrote:I have actually seen Ferris Bueller, and liked it well enough, so you don't have to worry about that one.
Yay!
Harry, ask Sally to plug up that Black Hole with some Disney Dust...you guys can find it Somewhere in Time! wrote:So, I guess those will be my first to rent, Harry, Hole, and Somewhere. Then we'll talk about what's next.
Woohoo! I expect a full report when you're done.
If Disney Duster likes Dogville, does he have an undying love for Nicole Kidman like I do? wrote:Uh...ever see Dogville?
Unfortunately, I never even heard of it, so I did a quick wiki, and based on the first few paragraphs, and the realization that it has Nicole Kidman, it actually sounds like a movie I'd be interested in (even if it didn't have Nicole Kidman)! Will rent it soon (well, once I get around to getting a Blockbuster card or Netflix account), and provide my thoughts at a later date.
Scaps
*Well, it's not strictly once a month (like every third Wednesday or something...), but it's on my shortlist** of movies I often find myself watching much more times than many others, even if I've seen the movie and bonus features countless times and there are still a pile of movies I have yet to watch, or a pile of movies I've only seen a couple times, or a pile of movies that are allegedly "better" than some of my favorites.

I can't do anything less than 6. Well, I probably could, but I doubt I'd want to watch
The Ten Commandments every day even if it's my favorite of favorite of favorites. So I guess that's my definitive (until my mood changes) choices for most rewatchable movies in my DVD collection. Which is odd, because
Legend used to be in the 6, but over the past year, I've found myself watching it less than I used to. Hmm. It's also puzzling that there's no scifi films. I generally like scifi films, but don't watch them as often as I do others. Must be the lack of an emotional connection for me to the characters. I'll watch Spock die and be reborn again, or Luke taking Vader's mask off, but not shed a bloody tear; yet hearing Elise say "Is it you?" or Angela tell George "Every time you leave me for a minute, it's like goodbye", it'll always get to me.
