Strangely enough...Ethan Haas was the name of a character in CBS's short-lived sitcom, "The Class". He was played by Jason Ritter.

I don't think the two are connected.

I find it weird that this movie is coming out in January. Usually January is the start of the doldrum period of the box office with no big movies coming out til April. I guess they want this movie to set records.

Parasite eh?

I think its a new monster made up just for the film, which will be made up of - I dunno - smog or oil or carbon monoxide or smoke or all of these mixed up. Some sort of pollution time monster.

And I think the film will have an environmental message as a result.

Just think... a big expensive film based on an original non-franchise "character" and concept. How refreshing if that's the case. And I prey that it is, in this summer of disappointing sequels upon sequels.

Well the promotional tactics sure seem to be working, judging from this thread. :P

Dunno if I'll bother seeing it, but I certainly hope it's not just another creature feature. Feh. Besides, it's J.J. "you'll never know the truth!" Abrams. He's good at building suspense and mystery, but his stories never have... well... an answer to go with them.

you know i'm thinking that since they didn't show a title what if the date is the title of the film. what i'm getting at is Independence Day was released almost on Indepedence Day which was good marketing strategy. i might be wrong though.

Yeah, I highly doubt Clover and Cloverleaf are this movie's real name. A lot of movie companies use code names. Usually two types of code names. Script code names, for before and during filming. And can code names, for when the movie is completed, canned and sent out to theaters. Usually the label on the can is some B-movie sounding title.

Apparently that Ethan Haas stuff has nothing to do with the movie.

JJ is very cryptic and mysterious ... he created faux sites for LOST at the end of Season 2 ... about the world within the series ... and the "creators" of those sites always deny that they have anything to do with LOST the series ...

So JJ could be telling the truth ... or just playing with our heads ...

A third picture was recently added on the official website. Again, here's the link:

1-18-08

According to the time, this one was taken twelve minutes after the second and forty-seven minutes after the first.

First time I saw it I honestly thought this was a teaser for Lost. I still do, actually. :P This has definitely caught my interest.

Disney Villain wrote:That roaring sounds sounds just like that monster in LOST. I was thinking it could be a LOST film, because of the roar sound, but then I saw Paramount and LOST is owned by Disney. I don't think it's Godzilla, because it'd be too ovbious with the "Japan" refrence-which was probally put in there to make people think it was Godzilla.
Lost the movie? LOL I wish. But the Lost movie isnt schedule to be filmed till the series ends in 2010.

Though with J.J. Abrams on this film I can see that they're definitly playing this film out in a very "Lost" mystery style fashion.

The Slusho drink stuff (http://www.slusho.jp/) reminds me of the Apollo Bar from Lost!

This interests me a lot. Which, of course, is what they're aiming at. This whole "not saying a word" marketing is genius, and I will admit to falling right into, as I really want to know what this is!

I will continue to keep up with the incomming updates on this until the film is released.

BTW, the writer for this one is Drew Goddard of Buffy/Angel and Lost fame. On all shows he has proven himself as one of the more worthy writers that currently work for TV. I'm expecting nothing less than a high quality script from this dude.

A fourth picture was added to the official site.

1-18-08

That was rather an odd picture. Can anyone decipher its secrets? I'm too lazy to do it for now.

Anyway, it seems like they are releasing pictures once a week every Friday. January 18, 2008 IS a Friday. There is a decent chance that we won't find out what this movie is all about unless we watch it in theaters. Maybe more trailers will appear, probably with more clues, but not necessarily telling the title of the film. And I'm betting that the last picture, which would most likely be revealed on the movie's release date, will be IT.

Well, that answered absolutely none of my questions. But we saw a glimpse of it. Looked like a leg and a tail. I doubt its another American made Godzilla movie. Could he be remaking something else, like Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. If you look at the movie poster, there appears to be movement in the water heading towards NY. Or of course it could be something "original" from him. But most monster movies have a foothold of inspiration in some other movie.
