Fairy Tales you want to see Disney make

^ That actually would be amazing. I'm surprised it hasn't happened. I actually hadn't seen any similarity to Pinnochio, but I guess it could be seen as in the same vein, but certainly not too different to block chances of a movie.

my vote is for disney nutcracker...great idea....that sounds the best of all the ones i read so far!!!

I grew up with an animated nutcraker (The Nutcracker Prince) and it was so good that I don't see Disney doing another one... obviously the movie I'm talking about isn't so great animation-wise, but it still has big names voicing and is in general, good. I suggest you view it if you are interested in an adaptation of the tale.

While searching for ideas for this topic, I wandered on Wikipedia and found this article: List of fairy tales. I think lots of them would be interesting (I obviously did not read them all yet!), like Brother and Sister. I would also like to see more of the Greek mythology, even though it might be hard since people would always compare it to Hercules. But Disney adapted tons of european fairy tales, after all, so there shouldn't be a problem with that... I'm thinking mostly Cupid and Psyche, a lovable yet mysterious "prince" and a beautiful but altogether too curious "princess".

Anyway, just my 0,02$! I hope Disney continues to make us discover new fairy tales. After viewing the list, I now know that I know nothing about them, despite seeing a lot of the Disney movies! It's a great source of stories.

I think it would be interesting to see them adapt some more tales from the Arabian Nights (I'd love to see some in-joke cameo's from the Aladdin characters, like how Belle could be seen briefly walking down the street in Hunchback).

When I was younger there was a half hour show on Nickelodeon called Grims Fairy Tales where they animated a fairy tale every episode and one of my favorites was called The Water Of Life, it has alot of Disney qualities to it, a prince saving the woman he loves, a secret city that he must venture into to get "the water of life" to help the girl. I always liked that one.

Agreeance, so long as they don't do 40 Thieves, because that would contradict the third Aladdin movie (the best of the Disney sequels, next to Bambi II, imho). I'd really like to see some more foreign fairytales (and therefore, a more diverse range of princesses)

Agreed, Aladdin and the King of Thieves was (IMHO) the best of the sequels so far (I admit I haven't seen them all, including Bambi 2, and I'm probably biased as Aladdin is my favorite classic).

I just think there's plenty of stories left to do (1001 of them in total) and it could be very interesting to see Disney's take on them.

I'm all for setting them in the same world as Aladdin and reviving his TV series, or even having Cassim and Iago on their travels guest star in one or two Arabian Nights based Classics, but that's never going to happen!

While looking through a box I came across this old book called Strega Nona, I would love it if Disney would consider it the book was one of my favorites when I was younger. There was also another book....but I think I'm getting it mixed up with The Snow Queen which I've already mentioned on the first page.

I like the Rumpelstilskin ideas, such a great story, characters, plenty of room of classic Disney magic to lighten up some dark tones of the plot. I don't get it, is he a victim or villain? again I would love to see Rumpelstilskin, during my elementary age I saw a hororr verison of the tale and it scared me for life till I was able to read the orignal story.

Don't give them any more ideas! Bad enough they're doing the Karaoke Version on Family Channel now, last thing we need is an animated version to go with it.

Live action of Pinnochio. I'd also like Disney to make a Pocahontas live action. Also a Sleeping Beauty live action. I enjoyed the live action of 101 Dalmations.

I would like disney to animate Cupid and Psyche (I love too much Apuleius' fairy tale), Snow Queen, Rumpelstiltskin and also a very classical version of Rapunzel (I know that Disney want to realize a parodistic modern version of this fairy tale and I hate the idea of a modern Rapunzel!)...

I certainly agree with The Snow Queen. I'd also love to see Ye Xian, the Chinese version of Cinderella. I love nearly every form of Cinderella, and am greatly interested in Chinese culture.

There's something else I would like to see, but not until about twenty years down the road. What? So I can play the role of my namesake? What on earth are you suggesting? ;] A breathtaking, extremely well-done, live action Cinderella movie with more screen time and depth for the majority of the characters. And in all seriousness, waiting until the 2020's for the release would give the producers a lot of time to make it perfect. The special effects would be amazing.

Yes, there are millions of live action Cinderella stories - but I simply can't let go of this idea!

I'd love to see Disney tackle the story of Baba Yaga. It would look great done in the Gustaf Tenggren/Snow White style, and Baba Yaga herself would surely go down as one of the great Disney witches. The story also has Cinderella elements to it.

I like the idea of an Aztec type princess. I'm sure that Mayan or Aztec myths have some really good stories that most of the American audience would have never heard of. Plus, think of the awesome scenery!

I'm bringing this topic back from the dead since there was a recent mention of this topic in a recent new thread.

Ive been developing in my head quite a while a Disney-esque adaptation of the popular Russian fairy tale "Prince Ivan, the Firebird, and the Grey Wolf" (there's actually 2 billion different ways you can title this story!) It would introduce an actual Prince in a lead role. I even came up with several concepts to fill in plotholes such as to explain how the Wolf can talk to humans or change its shape. I also came up with how the climatic scene would go and I made the golden mane horse a more developed character. I did made a few Disneyesque alterations that would make it more family friendly.

What about "Mother Hulda"? It's interesting, kind of a mix of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Spirited Away...but if they work with it, I think they could make it more original

Dealing With Dragons would be a good fairytale for Disney with strong female characters.

Princess Cimorene isn't like other princesses. She is taller than most men, has long black hair, and is completely bored with the embroidery, dancing, and how to scream properly when she is captured lessons. She convinces her servants to secretly teach her fencing, cooking, and magic. Her parents and fairy godmother get worried, so they wisk her away to another kingdom where she is set to marry a dim-witted prince. She runs away and goes to see some dragons. There she asks one of them to take her, so she can hide and get away from her oppressive family. A female dragon, Kazul, takes her in as her cook and cataloger for her treasure horde. The other dragons frown on it because a princess isn't suppost to be hired, they are suppost to be captured. Kazul is a nice dragon and they enjoy each other's company and Cimorene likes her jobs. But knights and princes always come to rescue her. One day while putting out a sign that will hopefully deter more "rescuers" (it reads "road closed" or something like that), she meets a wizard. She tells Kazul about the wizard and learns dragons and wizards are bitter rivals. Dragons posses a natural magic, while wizards have to use enchanted items like staffs and wands. And wizards and dragons constantly disagree on who should control a bunch of caves that contain the secrets of magic. At that time, dragons control them, and the wizards want them. The princess meets another princess of another dragon one day and they become friends. They discover a wizard, collecting herbs. He runs off and when Cimorene shows the herb he took to Kazul, it makes her sick. The herb is poison to dragons. By the time they discover it, its too late, the wizard has poisoned the King of Dragons and he is dead. The dragons need a new king and a competition is started and every dragon must compete, even the sick Kazul. While collecting the items she needs to compete, the princesses discover the whole plot on how and why the king was killed and finds they've all be betrayed.
