Thanks for rubbing it in Dvdjunkie!!

I've been pretty fortunate. I started collecting DVD's in 1999, so I was in on Disney titles from the beginning with the Limited Issues. The only OOP titles I'm missing are The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh and Saludos Amigos. I didn't have the money for Pooh when it first came out and Wal-Mart stopped selling it fairly quickly for some odd reason. By the time I found out it was OOP, I couldn't find a copy anywhere. As for Saludos Amigos, I simply didn't want an edited version of any of the classics, so I passed on the three edited package films. I've since changed my mind, as this is likely all we'll get for these films and I want to complete my collection. Time to hit the Gamestops, I suppose. I don't trust eBay.

I only started collecting in like December 2004, so I missed out on basically everything. But I caught up fairly well and am making sure to get all the ones I want when they come out now. I am still missing some but I will get them eventually. I have all but 3 of the treasures, and most of the other recent releases.

Right now the only ones I am missing that I really really want are:
WDT: Davey Crockett
WDT: Mickey Mosue in Black and White Vol 1
WDT: Elfago Baca and Swamp Fox
All 4 of the Legacy Collection
Beauty and the Beast
Sleeping Beauty
Lion King
Saludos Amigos
Parent Trap Vault Disney
and I do like the gift sets.
Yeah Disney!!!

Parent Trap: Vault Disney Edition

Yes I know there is the Double Edition w/ the Television sequel........but I don't want that.

(Luckily, Parent Trap was recently on Hallmark and I made a DVD-R of the movie.)
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

I haven't missed too many DVD opportunities for a while, although for some reason I didn't get the first wave of Treasures when they came out, and paid for it later. Worth every penny though.

Some of the original OOP I still don't have - 101 Dalmatians, for example - as I was holding out for a more 'features packed' edition. Little did I know that would be 10 years later!

However, I do have a pretty much complete collection with a few exceptions. I did pay a bit more when I decided to get 'extra' copies of Platinums in international variants (the UK's Snow White box being a beautiful example, although even then I only paid full retail or just above. It has at least doubled in price since).

As corny as this sounds, I only have B&tB: tEC and "Cinderella II" on VHS, and those are out of print...I wish I had those on DVD...I'm surprised CII didn't get rereleased recently, what with the PE and CIII coming out. There are a few others I only have on VHS & not DVD, but they're easier to get (besides the ones I previously mentioned).

Well, all of the Pixar films are still in print, so you're good there. Maybe they'll reissue the extras for Tarzan when it comes to Blu-ray.

I missed out on some of the Treasures (I bought the Behind the Scenes one and "On the Front Lines" when they came out, and I just recently bought the two "Mickey Mouse in Black & White" sets), but Disney Movie Club still has a good selection of Treasures, so I'm not too sad.

I missed out on Snow White, Beauty and the Beast and Fanstasia, all of which I'd like to have. But I'm OK with it, because the anticipation of hearing what new release will be coming next is kinda fun. So I can wait and hopefully the newer versions of these movies will be even better when they do come out again.

All Region 1:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - Platinum Edition

Beauty and the Beast - Platinum Edition

Sleeping Beauty - Special Edition

The Fantasia Anthology - Collector's Edition

The Lion King Movie Collection

The Emperor's New Groove - The Ultimate Groove - Collector's Edition

Tarzan - Collector's Edition

Toy Story - The Ultimate Toy Box - Collector's Edition

I really feel crap about missing this. The funny thing is that i actual had the opportunity to buy some of them but i didn't. I have the VHS Special Edition of Snow White and B&tB 'cause that time i was in denial... I mean i had made a really big collection of Disney VHS and i was really frustrated about starting from scratch again with DVDs. So i kept buying VHS for some time until i realised that my efforts were futile and started to buy DVDs before i missed out on more releases.

Btw, why Disney does that OOP thing? Is it just to torment us collectors? I mean other studios don't do that with their titles even if they have little or no sales at all...

I think they do that so they can add more Special Features and make the people who bought the previous one buy the newer release. Lately it's all about money for Disney....

Anyway,I'm missing out on A LOT!

Bambi-PE
The Lion King-PE
Tarzan-2DE
Mulan-2DE
Bambi II
Alice in Wonderland-MPE
Fantasia Anthology

I missed out on ALL the WDT sets. The stores always had them, but I never picked them up.

I also missed out on the bonus disc of Sleeping Beauty. Back then, video rental stores would only give you the movie and keep the bonus disc. So when I rented Sleeping Beauty I only saw the first disc.

Tarzan's Collector's Edition is the only DVD I missed. I also missed Snow White's Platinum, B&tB's Platinum, the Fantasia Anthology and The Emperor's New Groove Collector's Edition, but I've found all those at various old DVD stores (especially Snow White, which I see everywhere).

The only big releases I missed out on were Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Platinum Edition and the first two waves of the WDT. I was able to pick up BATB used and The Lion King and Sleeping Beauty sealed at a retail store.

I started my Disney DVD collection with Bambi: Platinum Edition, so that shows you just how much I've missed out on right there. Fortunately, I was able to obtain almost all of the films (with the exception of a few) through eBay, GameStop, and the occasional store that had some lying around in the back.

My goal used to be to get every single Disney film ever made, but now that has changed. I've decided to only get the ones that I truly enjoy, because honestly, what good is a film going to do me if it just sits on my shelf? I have ALMOST all of the OOP titles that I want, and there are still quite a few available titles that I'm dying to get my hands on as well.

The OOP titles I still need to get are as follows:

Animated:
Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
Fantasia
Fantasia 2000
The Jungle Book (will wait for Platinum Edition)
101 Dalmatians (will wait for Platinum Edition)
Return to Never Land (will wait for re-release later on this year)
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (will wait for Friendship Edition)
The Aristocats (I could have easily obtained the GC, but I knew that a new and improved edition would be coming eventually)

Live-Action:
The Parent Trap: Vault Disney Collection
Pollyanna: Vault Disney Collection
Old Yeller: Vault Disney Collection
(Though all 3 of these can be purchased through the Disney Movie Club.)

AFAIK, Pollyanna should still be in print. But the other two are OOP (as their Vault Disney discs), and if you're willing to skip out on their audio commentaries, you can always get the two-movie collections that include their sequels.
