Re: Disney's Don Quixote??
I never realized how perfect a fit Goofy would be for Don Quixote. I'm glad we are finally getting some Disney rendition of this story. Treasure Island is less exciting considering how many adaptations it's had under the Disney name but Moby Dick is a great choice, even though I'm not a fan at all. I'd love to see other forms of classic literature like The Count of Monte Cristo and Dracula.

That reminds me of a book series I had a pair of volumes from when I was a child. It featured Mickey, Donald and the rest as the protagonists of fairytale adaptations in the style of Mickey and the Beanstalk. If I remember correctly, Mickey and Minnie were Hansel and Gretel in one book and Daisy was Goldilocks in the other. I remember the books had beautiful illustrations. Unfortunately, I lost them in one of the many moves of my childhood.blackcauldron85 wrote:D82 put a link in the Ralph Breaks the Internet thread for a new WIR book, and what other book is on the site?

At least Disney's doing something with this story!
Treasure Island & Moby Dick are also coming out in Disneyfied graphic novels per that site.

Re: Disney's Don Quixote??

I had a book with the story of Rapunzel similar to what you described. Minnie played Rapunzel, Mickey her handsome prince, Clarabelle as Gothel, and Donald and Daisy as Rapunzel's parents.
Disney also had a series of 25 books under the label Disney Literature Classics which featured Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in roles from stories like War and Peace. There was a Don Quixote one too featuring Donald as the lead.

Disney also had a book of fairy tales featuring the Walt era characters playing the roles of fairy tales that Disney hadn't adapted yet. For example, Alice was the Little Match Girl, Figaro was Puss in Boots, and Cinderella and the Big Bad Wolf played Beauty and the Beast.

I had seen images from the Rapunzel book in this forum, but I don't think it's part of the same collection I had. The illustrations of the books I had were different, I think they had more shading. I didn't know about the other two books/series of books. The last one is especially curious.
