Luke suggested a Best Villains category, which I think is a great idea, and so Best Villain in a 2006 Film has been added. Feel free to edit your votes to add this category. Please nominate the character name and the movie title (not the actor).

On a personal note, I've also got to edit my votes to reflect my having seen Night at the Museum!

Isn't that sort of over-kill though? I mean, we have "Best Supporting Actor" which mostly villains get nominated.

I've updated my noms to reflect the gloriousness of Dreamgirls. I finally have some Original Songs nominations too! For those wanting to nominate the film in that category, there are four new songs in the film that did not originate in the Broadway play:

"Listen"
"Love You I Do"
"Patience"
"Perfect World"

Just updated mine to include The Holiday nominations. I actually enoyed it, surprisingly. The cast had great chemistry, and even though it was a tad long, it was fantastic rom-com stuff. I guess that these Christmas rom coms are selling, since we've had quite a few it the past few years. Love Actually, Something's Goota Give, The Family Stone, and now The Holiday. Kate Winslet was great in it and Cameron Diaz redeemed herself for hooking up with JT with this role. Jude Law was charmingly befuddled (looks like he's the new Hugh Grant), and Jack Black was actually a bit likeable in it, which is more than I can say for his other films. I'd even say that it was better than Happy Feet, which kind of disappointed me.

EDIT- I just realised that you've seen Shortbus, The Little Merman. I'm really jealous, I want to see it so badly, but I can't since it's like R18+, and unfortunately, I'm 15. Just to let you know, you can register on the website so that your name can appear on the DVD. Once again I can't do that cause you have to be over 18. Just letting you know.................

According to Academy standards, that song is not eligible-- only "Listen", "Love You I Do", and "Patience". Makes sense to me I suppose?

Is it the length? The song runs 1:32 so I'm guessing there's a 2 minute rule, then? Or is it too similar to another song (since it's a stylized parody of sorts of The Jackson Five)?

I'd just like to note that Pirates of the Caribbean is a Comedy, according to the Golden Globes.

I would also like to possibly request an extension of the deadline. Right now many films will be receiving wide releases in the next upcoming weeks (The Queen, The Last King of Scotland, Pan's Labyrinth, Volver, Notes on a Scandal, The Painted Veil, and Letters from Iwo Jima). They all could play heavily with my picks for the different categories.
Best Movies of 2009:
1. Moon
2. Inglorious Basterds
3. The Hurt Locker
4. Coraline
5. Ponyo

I was actually going to move the deadline up to allow more time for counting the votes, but I have decided that I will indeed extend it by one week. To compensate, though, I am going to move the deadline for the Media Awards up by one week. That way I can be working on those while voting for the Movie Awards continues.

The deadline for UD Movie Awards nominations is February 7, 2007 at 11:59pm (Eastern Time). Please do not edit your posts after that time.

As for Pirates, I would rather allow people to nominate it (or any other movie, for that matter) in whichever genre category they feel is most appropriate, which may or may not be the Academy's classification. Nominating the same film for both comedy and drama is fine as well, if you so choose.

Thank you for this extension. Hopefully I can get one or two more movies in with that. Hopefully I can see The Painted Veil, The Queen, The Last King of Scotland, Volver, and Pan's Labyrinth by then.

Update. This is great news. My local theater is playing all of those, except Volver (and instead Letters from Iwo Jima) this weekend! :D
