Well this came out of nowhere.

Also, this thread is 9 years old...

Of all things....this is what they want to bring to the stage ? Gosh, I'm really really surprised by this, and a little disappointed. a lot of things I would rather have gone to Broadway than this .... Tangled for one, instead of being on the Disney Dream.

Tangled would have been a better Broadway show. Enchanted also (lyricist Stephen Schwartz have stated that he has ideas for it as a Broadway musical).

Disney Theatrical should really prioritize the Disney movies where the composers behind the original score is still alive and working, so that they can get the original composers and songwriters to adapt their movies into Broadway shows. (Alan Menken to say the least! Pocahontas, Hercules, Enchanted and Tangled could all be turned into Broadway shows.)
Favorite Disney-movies: Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates, Enchanted, Prince of Persia, Tron, Oz The Great and Powerful

I don't mind that they're looking at their older films, too, even if most of those would be much more difficult to translate onstage. They did just try something with Hunchback (although they decided not to take it to Broadway), not to mention Aladdin and they're currently working on Frozen.

I'm still skeptical they'll ever do anything with Pocahontas, Hercules, and Enchanted, unfortunately--although I'd prefer shows to them over Tangled. :/ Of course, I thought the same about Hunchback, so who knows.

I really love the Pinocchio movie and original book so I'm glad to hear there will be some sort of stage show of this. And the fact that Disney elements can be used without Disney's creative control might be a plus.

This should be quite interesting. Also, even if I don't manage to get down to London, the National Theatre live-stream some of their shows to cinemas, so hopefully I'll be able to catch it that way if push comes to shove.

Wow, Pinoch is pretty cute... I think it's funny how his pants make him look like he's wearing a diaper.

I like the Blue Fairy's costume, too. Something simple and unadorned/gaudy, which I think is appropriate for the role.

Yeah Pinocchio's actor is cute, and the Blue Fairy's costume is great.

I don't really like the look of the show though. Giant puppets...ehhh.

What would have been better? Maybe normal sized people with a Pinocchio who was either an actor who looked like a kid or an actual kid, and puppets for Jiminy and Monstro.

I also wish they wrote new music for the show.

Just stumbled into this from an old article: Pinnochio was aimed for Broadway in the early 2000s!
Other projects that remain in the Disney pipeline include Hoopz, the Savion Glover basketball tuner that’s still in development; Pinocchio, which has The Lion King’s Julie Taymor onboard; and The Little Mermaid, to be staged by Matthew “Swan Lake” Bourne. The spokesperson told Playbill On-Line all are being worked on but have no set timeframe for development. Another Disney show, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, continues in Germany but remains unlikely to reach American shores.

A Pinocchio musical by Julie Taymor could have been really awesome. It's such a shame it never came to fruition. :(
