But All the Cats Join In is still censored (digitally touched-up to flatten the girl's "features" when she steps out of the shower).

Screen-shot with the uncensored version from an old VHS tape inserted in the lower left corner.
Yes, there is. And also English menus and subtitles, both regular and SDH.Wonderlicious wrote:Hurray...is there an English track on this disc, by the way?
Axel music appears to have it separately already: http://www.axelmusic.dk/productDetails/8717418100650Anders M Olsson wrote: The only catch is that you can only order it as part of a boxed set, the Disney Classics Collection with Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Make Mine Music, Melody Time, and Ichabod & Mr. Toad.
Next year, on March 21, the titles will be available to buy individually.
You're right. It seems that Buena Vista has different strategies for the different Scandinavian countries. In Sweden, only the boxed set is available right now. But you can get the individual films in Denmark and Norway.Palan wrote:Axel music appears to have it separately already: http://www.axelmusic.dk/productDetails/8717418100650
Wikipedia explains it all:akhenaten wrote:forgive my ignorance..but what countries r considered scandinavian? and what does scandinavian means/refer to? anyway i wanna to get this for the cheapest and individual set.
I guess it could be forgiven that someone from Malaysia didn't quite know that.akhenaten wrote:forgive my ignorance..but what countries r considered scandinavian? and what does scandinavian means/refer to? anyway i wanna to get this for the cheapest and individual set.
The video quality is acceptable, about the same as the region 1 DVD. Ok for casual viewing, but not exactly reference quality. On a positive note, that also means that they haven't killed this title off by overly ambitious restoration. There's still the natural film grain etc.Julian Carter wrote:What about video quality? Thanks for mentioning this. I refuse to buy such transfers on principle. They are quite disappointing and distracting. I do notice the interlacing under "normal" viewing conditions. With a progressive display, then, it looks very bad.Anders M Olsson wrote: Instead, the picture's 24 fps have been stretched out over 25 fps. If you freeze frame it, you'll find some frames that look like double exposures. You probably won't notice that under normal viewing conditions.
Well, I can tell you that Make Mine Music has much better picture quality than Donald in Mathmagic Land, and that it looks quite alright on my plain old 50 Hz tv. But I can imagine that digital de-interlacers might introduce problems with that kind of material.marlan wrote:Thanks for mentioning this. I refuse to buy such transfers on principle. Sounds great. I'll try to find this from a library because I'd really like to see the censored segment. I have a cut Korean release currently and it is region-free; I'm not quite sure if it is a bootleg or not. The disk does have an IFPI number though.Anders M Olsson wrote:Well, I can tell you that Make Mine Music has much better picture quality than Donald in Mathmagic Land, and that it looks quite alright on my plain old 50 Hz tv.
it must be a bootleg because Disney has never released any of their classics (and nothing i think) region-free.marlan wrote:Sounds great. Can you say whether the transfer comes from an analogue master (like laserdisk perhaps) of from a digital master?
I'm also wondering if Melody Time is uncut on R2/Scandinavia ("Pecos Bill" segment) and whether cowboy Goofy is allowed to smoke his cigar in Saludos Amigos... Yes, smoking is bad for your health, I know, but it would be instructive to see how far we have come (to paraphrase Mr. Maltin).
I really can't tell, but I doubt they'd do a transfer from an actual laserdisc. It's much more likely that it's been sourced from (analog) tape.marlan wrote:Can you say whether the transfer comes from an analogue master (like laserdisk perhaps) of from a digital master?
Both are basically the same as the UK releases: Goofy's smoking has been edited out of Saludos Amigos, while Melody Time is uncut.marlan wrote:I'm also wondering if Melody Time is uncut on R2/Scandinavia ("Pecos Bill" segment) and whether cowboy Goofy is allowed to smoke his cigar in Saludos Amigos... Why does the UK release of Melody Time have the Pecos Bill scene undedited, while Goofy smoking is not included?Anders M Olsson wrote:I really can't tell, but I doubt they'd do a transfer from an actual laserdisc. A bit weird, that's true - since smoking seems to be the problem in both cases. But how was Goofy's smoking in Saludos Amigos edited? I guess they didn't need to do what they did to Pecos Bill in Melody Time...? There several seconds of footage and song were cut, so that was indeed bad.Big Disney Fan wrote:Why does the UK release of Melody Time have the Pecos Bill scene undedited, while Goofy smoking is not included?
About 4 seconds were ''cut'' from the film, this didn't shorten the film, what they did was to loop the previous 4 seconds before the smoking occurs, since the narrator was talking over the top of the scene, and cutting it out, would result with problems on the soundtrack.Lars Vermundsberget wrote:But how was Goofy's smoking in Saludos Amigos edited?
