I actually LOVE this cover. There is only one thing I would change, if I had the chance....Ursula. She needs to be more menacing!

Other than that, I LOVE it! I hope that they give this movie the greatest restoration. The Limited Issue is such a shame, with that grainy transfer.

About the european cover art remark. Correct me if I'm wrong, but since The Lion King every October release has been identical, and every February release has been different. Now, this isn't saying much, but maybe we can expect the same artwork for R2 buyers...

This is the first time that a 'first look' at a Platinum cover made me go "WOW". It already looks like the best PE cover. very well done

I agree withy xxhplinkxx, maybe not with Scuttle, but definately Eric.

The cover NEEDS Eric... to a lesser extent of Aladdin needing Jasmine on the cover, and to a greater extent of Jane being on Tarzan SE. The dynamic between the two is pillar for the story, she may have always been interested in the world above, but it was her "love" for Eric, (with Daddy's tempor tandrum as the catalyst) that was the reason she saw Ursula... You need the love interest...

I absolutely love it!

It is indeed the best platinum cover so far, followed by Cinderella in second place, and Lion King on the third.

The water looks gorgeous, the composition is really beautiful. For me this is flawless.

Just imagine the cover for the gift set, cause this movie MUST have one.

:o :D

Ab - so - lut - ley Stunning.

I can already tell that Disney is going all out for what will be, easily, the best/selling Platinum Edition. Easily. I actually daydreamed of a blue banner and such and this is almost exactly the cover I imagined. I highly agree though, Eric must enter the picture somehow, and they can slap Scuttle on the back, such as Iago on the Aladdin DVD...

Fabulous.

The first draft of "Mermaid" cover has been posten on the US home page !

I'm SO DISAPOINTED in this cover ! I find it SO UGLY ! All these not-well-drawn-and-too-much-redish-colored characters !
I've never found region 1 DVD covers pretty in general (with a few exceptions), but this is far and away the UGLIEST ONE I'VE EVER SEEN !! I really hope they changed it ! At least a bit ! Yeurk ! :
Chandler (to Phoebe, over the phone) : Listen, Joey isn't gonna be here tonight so why don't you come over and I'll let you uh.. feel my bicep; or maybe more...

I think the cover's gorgeous. As others have said, this may very well be the best Platinum cover to date. What impresses me most about this artwork is that they avoided touched up clipart. This is the first time since The Lion King that Disney's done a completely original Platinum cover rather than photoshop VHS clipart together and paint over it. I don't find the lack of Eric that much of a loss, but can understand why people would want him on there.

Usually I don't argue people''s opinion, but seriously... what cover are you looking at? I understand the whole "our french covers are much more interesting" thing you have, wich is cool, but seriously.... are you actually saying this one is worse than Sleeping Beauty?!?!

Luke must be REALLY happy right now! Why? Because now precious bandwidth won't be wasting on monthly, "What do you think the TLM cover will look like" threads. Now that's something to celebrate!

As for the cover, looks great actually. It might be tied with Aladdin as my favorite Platinum cover.

Flounder is a problem, though. He seems totally out of place! I say remove him. After all, he was nothing but a whiney looser during the whole movie. Aside from that, the cover looks great.

But I'm one of the few that is not all that excited though. Now if you want to see me excited, call me when The Jungle Book cover art has been posted!

I love the cover art! Ariel just looks a little weird though but I'm sure the high quality image will fix that a little bit.

That's not a baton that's his conducter stick he uses at the beginning of the movie at the concert.
