So since I do not yet own it at all should I keep the one in the set (once I get it) or buy the 30th separately? Are the extras and picture better enough for me to buy again?
You might as well get the 30th Anniversary edition separately. I think it's a major improvement in picture, and of course, you get all the nice little extras (unless you're just one of the "so long as I have the movie I'm satisfiefd" people).

20th Century Fox is releasing it. They're just licencing out Blazing Saddles from WB for the boxset. Though I wonder why they didn't try to license out The Producers (1968) and Spaceballs from MGM (now owned by Sony) or The Producers (2005) from Universal...

Edit: SH!T!!! I just read the review (well, just the disc specs). And all that History of the World Part 1 is getting is an anamorphic transfer? Looks like half the movies are barebones + trailer, while the other half are a little-less-than-barebones (read: one featurette and a trailer)...

WHOEVER owns which films should do a better job than they have of releasing them with some actual dignity. Warner Brothers did a respectable job with the Blazing Saddles SE (considering how bare-bones the first release was, there was nowhere to go but up). But, as noted before, some of the movies aren't even solely available on R1 DVD.

Also, I don't think it would have killed Fox to do a set-spanning extra disc with just special features. That way, there would be some justification for only including bare-bones movie DVDs in the set.

Robin hood men in tights is absolutley hilarious. I've been waiting for this to come to dvd forever! I love mel brooks...but the set is so pricy. I really hope they end up releasing robin hood individually.

Ok well I will Buy BS's 30th DVD but I wonder also is it worth it for the Spaceballs 2-disc or should I just take my dad's 1 disc copy (a few Christmases ago we got my dad a John Candy 3-pack which was this, Canadian Bacon, and Delirious. Anyway while he loved the other two he hated Spaceballs so when I said I needed it to get closer to a complete written/directed by Mel Brooks collection he said I could have his)? So yes this is the same question I had about Blazing Saddles but still I’d like to know.

Well the Spaceballs single-disc is a flipper with a non-anamorphic widescreen and an open-matte (or p&s, I'm not sure) fullscreen. Also, it's got a sleep-inducing Mel Brooks commentary and a behind-the-scenes EPKish featurette. The two-disc is definitely worth the money, though you lose the EPK feature (but you gain a lot more, including anamorphic widescreen.)

Anyways, I've read some disappointing reviews for the boxset, namely that Young Frankenstein is either anamorphic or non-anamorphic and that BS is the old version, so I'm gonna hold off purchasing it until it's known that all copies out are anamorphic. And of course, I'll buy BS30AE somewhere else (maybe Target for $10).

not to my knowledge, but buy the whole set or you will miss out on some great ones like Silent Movie and High Aniexty. It is well worth it even if you already have Blazing Saddles, History of the World Part I, and Young Frankenstein.

Go for the 2 disc. Target has had the 2 disc for $7.50 recently. I haven't had time to check my local Targets, but I've read online that several people have been finding it for that price while the 1 disc remains $9.99.
