About the cover: they need to change the Walt Disney font to a logo. They should also make the subtitle a smaller font and in a different color to match "Narnia". Other than that, it's perfectly fine!

It's good they didn't put any quotes on it!

Extended version? Meh! The time length was perfect IMO! Not too long, not too short. I doubt there has been much deleated that could've made the film "better", but it'll still be interesting none the less! I sure hope they include a "turkish delight" scene! (Look at "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" disscussion) :D

So is it confirmed for a 3-Disc set? I mean I know Disney will release a 2-disc set(or at least they'd be foolish not too) however are the rumors for 3 discs true?

The only thing confirmed is that there'll be a deluxe edition retailing for $39.99. As I said in the first post, this is awfully vague can either be a 3-Disc set (which I'm hoping for) or a 2-Disc set within a giftset of physical materials (ala the Platinums). Since press releases are usually issued about three months before a title arrives, I think we'll see an official (and detailed) announcement within the next four weeks.

Luke has updated the main page with some news. Apparently, the deluxe edition retailing for approximately $39.99 will be a 2-disc set. This means that either it will come with physical supplements, or Disney's going back to 2002 when 2-Disc Collector's Editions retailed for that much (unlikely). The cover art is excellent, though I can't help but wonder what the covers for the other films in the series will look like since the Aslan shield image isn't exclusive to film/book one. Either way, it's very classy (the link takes you to the cover art page it's located at):

Yay, they fixed the texts on the cover. The Widescreen banner actually makes the cover look nicer and more real. :o

$39.99 for a two-disc set? You would think there would be something special about it to release it for ten dollars more. Well, I'll still get it either way! I'm a sucker for bonus features and the cover for the two-disc set goes well with my special edition soundtrack. :)

Hmmm. Good job Disney on the Deluxe cover. It still looks like some tweaking is needed, but I applaude the classy-ness of it. If only Disney were to release all-out Vault versions of the Animated Classics like this... *le sigh*

Anywho, I think 40$ US is quite expensive for the set. I mean, I can't see it being any better or more extensive than Star Wars prequel releases. It's not like they did what King Kong and Superman Returns or even LOTR did with their extensive behind-the-scenes stuff. However, I do remember hearing that the DVD producer for Narnia was.... from LOTR, I think. I could be wrong though. So, who knows, maybe there will be plenty of bonus features. IMO, I think it'll be similar to SW and will include some extra physical things (piece of film?). That's just the vibe I'm getting for this release.

Looking at the bright side:

Since there is a one-disc edition available for the casual buyer, the material on the second disc should be more substantial and less "kiddie-oriented."

The 2-disc sets for TENG, Atlantis, Tarzan, and Dinosaur are some of Disney's best, so I would welcome a return to that style if that's what the Narnia Deluxe Edition is like.

Has anyone heard if there will be a basic 1-disc release of Narnia as well? Since I have over 1,000 dvd's already, i'm just mostly interested in watching the movies and not as much concerned with special features anymore (space is kind of at a premium as it is...). If anyone knows, just post a reply (I'm watching this thread).

Howdy!

Umm...the front page says Disney is pulling a WB...aren't they pulling a Fox also? They, too, have several titles in 1-DVD and 2-DVD sets!

P.S. I haven't been here in a while; my computer was down. I had to use a shared computer, and it would be pretty embarrasing to visit a "Disney" website on a public college computer!

If I won't be able to catch it to theatres, I'll probably blind-buy the Deluxe Edition. It seems like a really good packaging of a movie.

hey sethn72, why do you care what other students think about going to disney sites - no one wants to admit it, but we're all just really big kids?!? i used to go to college too, and while i was going to school, i worked at disney world, but i used to go on disney sites at school all the time and even if others teased or laughed, i didn't let it get to me.

of course, times have changed and i lost my job at disney after 7 years, but even that hasn't stopped me from enjoying disney itself. disney itself (not the corporation, though) has a lot of good things to offer the world (hey, maybe they should try sharing some of that "goodness" with their employees - maybe then they wouldn't have so many staffing problems...but that's a can of worms we just really don't want to open, do we?)

If Disney was pulling a Fox, we wouldn't see the deluxe version until just before Prince Caspian came to theaters with a movie ticket packaged inside of it.

Giving consumers a choice on release day is by far the better option, and I applaud Warner, Disney, and any other studio who does this.

I am not expecting to get this right away. I might wait four to six months when everyone is going to buring second hand copies for under $10.

Ooh! I really want to get it too!
Actually, April 4, which is when LWW is probably being released by the Disney, and appeared to be the date GoF would be released, will not see the release of both because GoF has been pushed up to March 7! A bit OT, but worth pointing out for those who were hoping to get both films on the same day, looks like it wouldn't happen.

just to ask once more, has anyone heard anything concerning the narnia dvd release as to whether or not it will come in a 1-disc edition or just the 2-disc special edition that 'disneykid' was referring to?

you see, i used to work for disney and i have to say that most of their movies in the last few years have been a little disappointing, but narnia just BLEW me away and i gotta have it, but my dvd shelf space is at a premium and i don't want to waste it on special feature discs... :o

if i have to bite the bullet and get the 2-disc set, i will, but i'd rather just have the movie. any answers, please post them (i'm watching this thread).

I don't think space will be a problem, as most Buena Vista 2 disc sets come in a single width aramay case these days anyhow - look at the recent platinums - they take up no more shelf space than a regular single disc release does.

However, if Disney are charging more for the Deluxe edition, I expect it to come with bonus items, such as a book. I would expect the expensive set to be presented and packaged either like the Cinderella Gift Set or the recent Sin City Expanded release.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Have you seen the two covers that have been released for this movie? A link was posted earlier in this topic, but here it is again: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/coverart.html#apr
If you notice, the $39.00 one says 2-Disc and the $29.00 one doesn't say anything. It is most than likely that the $29.00 version will just be a 1-Disc set. But as 2099net just said, a 2-Disc set will not take up any more space than a 1-Disc. It would just cost more.
