Escapay, let's not be so cheap. Spring the 9.99 and go by the DVD of the original Miracle on 34th Street. One watch and you will toss the other one in the trash can with no regrets. Truly the original is far superior to the lame remake.

Scrooged was a retelling of A Christmas Carol starring Bill Murray, Karen Allen, John Glover and John Fortsyth, among others. This is really a very good movie and can be watched any time of the year. One of Murray's best movies.

There's a ton of holiday movies I wanna buy, but I never get around to it. Heck, I've still got a sealed VHS of It's A Wonderful Life and I never saw that movie completely either!

As for Scrooged, I think I've heard of it, but was never sure what the movie was called. Will probably check that out with the original Miracle on 34th Street one of these days.

1. A Christmas Story: The Best Christmas Movie ever.. I love everything about it.

2. Muppet Christmas Carrol: I love The Muppets and this movie had a great story sets and music.

3. Elf: Will Ferrel Is Hilarious. And Plus when I saw this in the theaters I think I never laughed harder.

Home Alone. But also Scrooged was really dark, I loved that. It would be my favorite accept that it got just a leetil bit sickly-sweet at the end. And my favorite Bill Murray is not the one screaming while gasping for air. In reality, if he were to do what he did at the end of that movie, people wouldn't have listened to him, sang with him, or shared his spirit - they would have called the nearest maximum-security mental institution. In fact, there's not even a question of whether he loses his job or not, since his superior / employer is actually dancing at his home with his wife at the end of the broadcast. Give us a break... But I did love Carol Kane beating him up all the time and that sequence where Frank is looking at Claire's future as a cold-hearted socialite. Some great quotes too, I especially like Bobcat Goldthwait's "that looked like the Manson Family Christmas Special!"

While I enjoy both Home Alone movies, they really aren't Christmas films I can watch over and over again like some of my other favorites so that's why neither are in my top 10 favorite Christmas films!

If I were forced to chose one though, I'd pick Home Alone 2. Had much more humor and heart than the original!

And while I usually enjoy several remakes, I agree with dvdjunkie, the remake of "Miracle on 34th Street" was pretty bad! May the original last forever while the hideous remake gets forgotten!

...By no means is that a list of every Christmas movie that I enjoy, but those are the ones I think of as favorites.

Christmas movies I detest? Well, I can only think of one: A Christmas Story. But then, I haven't seen Bad Santa.

I'm not fond of A Christmas Story, but I'm dying to see Bad Santa. Everyone I know who has seen it says it's hilarious. And I dislike The Santa Clause 2, because it lacks the slight, whimsical charm of the original and gets too cutesy and cloyingly sentimental at times. The original was good, the sequel is unnecessary. Although the plot of the third movie looks a bit more promising with Ann-Margret as Scott's new mother-in-law...

Lazario, though this thread is about Christmas movies I was shocked to read your list of worst films of 2005. What on earth do you judge your movies by? While I will agree with you on Dukes of Hazard, Be Cool, Get Rich or Die Tryin', I think you are way off base with your others and King Kong isn't even out yet, how do you know about that one?

Would really like to debate this with you a little bit.

That's quite a good list of christmas films and specials. One of my favorite christmas specials of all time is: Home Alone and Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. I'd also like The Nutcracker Prince, since it's an ok-but-not-great film and my family watched it back in 1995.

However, one of my favorite christmas films on recent years was Bad Santa. Since it is a rated "R" movie, it is not meant for kids to watch it due to adult material. As for film itself, it is hillarious. Good ol' Billy Bob Thorton, disguised as Santa, along with his midget sized elf (Tony Cox?), stole almost everything at the mall. Then, ended up at the kid's house where a kid has only a grandmother.

My all-time favorite is It's a Wonderful Life which gets watched every Thanksgiving.

There are just a lot of Christmas movies that are enjoyable to watch.

I like the Home Alone movies, though when you think about it, Macaulay Culkin didn't really "act", he was just a "cute kid" back in the day.

Miracle on 34th Street was also enjoyable (though I prefer the original over Mara Wilson).

And Mickey's Christmas movies (the Once and Twice) are fun to watch as well!

Recently, I saw The Brady Christmas movie (whatever the title is); they always show it every year on TV and it's an okay movie to watch too.

Oh yea! Then there's Love Actually, the most romantic movie during the Christmas season!

These are my favourite Christmas movies:

It's a Wonderful Life
This movie is one of the classics, and its story is a wonderful one. The music is beautiful and the acting is good, not to mention the nice conclusion really gives you a Christmas mood.

Mickey's Christmas Carol
This is definitely one of the nicest Disney animations out there. Scrooge is a wonderful character, and other characters fit well into the context of the story. The score is nice, and the song we hear at the beginning and at the end of the movie is a beautiful one.

The Snowman (1982)
"Walking in the Air" is one of the most memorable songs out there. The story about the friendship of the boy and the snowman is very touching, and the ending is very bittersweet after all the thrilling and happy things the friends have experienced. The score is superb, fitting into the story well.

That's the sort of thing covered in this clause. Plus, how do you know I don't have connections that could put me in an advanced screening, test screening? You don't really, you can only guess.
