Good Horror Movies?

I didn't find anything particularly distrubing in the original Shining.

Also, you can watch a Stephen King miniseries.

How about It or Storm of the Century?

With just one of these you'll have for the entire night. They run for around 4 hours each. And the are much more suspense than horror at all.

-I always had nightmare with Freddy Krueger.

-Scream is really good, at least the first 2 parts.

-eeeemmm, the Friday the 13th series in particular are filled with lots of blood and gore not to mention sex.... let me rephrase that: these are sex filled movies with blood and gore on them

- Halloween is very good

- Hellraiser? With the first 3 I couldn't sleep for a week!!!

There are a couple of older movies that fit that bill Alan.........

Circus of Horrors really good circus film that has it shares of jumps and screams.

The Monster Squad all of your favorite monsters in one movie, who could ask for more. It is kinda silly, but who cares, its fun and it is a Halloween movie.

Abbott & Costello Meet Frankdenstein this is one of their funniest and scariest of the bunch. Nothing offensive to anyone.

Abbott & Costello Meet The Mummy another of the duo funny-scary comedies. Worth a look.

Abbott & Costello Meet The Killer, Boris Karloff now this one has some pretty scarey moments. It also has some great slapstick.

Yeah, I mainly chose PG-13 because I really do not enjoy movies with lots of gore. Although I can watch rated R movies that don't have too much blood.

Does halloween have a lot of blood/gore? I might consider it. How about the original texas chainsaw massacre?

the original Halloween has almost no blood or gore. Really, the blood is minimal. It's all done by suggestion. And its still a classic.

Avoid the Texas Chainsaw....

The Masque Of The Red Death - actually any of Corman's Poe films would do but don't expect a screams.

An Evening With Edgar Allen Poe - Just a simple idea but it is really great: Vincent Price simply reads Edgar Allen Poe on stage. It is riveting stuff and I wish this was put on CD.

Pyscho - It was released before ratings so it can't be that bad. There is minor amounts of blood but it was done in b/w so Hitch got away with using Chocolate Syrup. You need to see just because the culture and filmmakers have referenced it so much. (Finding Nemo included.)

The Bride Of Frankenstein - It is really yesteryear but great tale of Gods And Monsters. Not a lot of screams. Any of the Universal Monsters "A" are great.

I Walked With A Zombie or The Cat People - To Quote EW "Val Lewton knew what scared you and he be damned if he showed it to you" A horror more of mood and suspense not knife weilding murders.

Texas chainsaw massaquere isn´t really bloody, but what makes you feel that chill behind your neck is that it was a real case, the introductory and final part of the film are original parts of the police filmings and that Leather face was never found

I guess Texas Chainsaw is not that bad in terms of gore. At the time (1970's) I think it was thought to extreme but considering today standards it seems tame.

The story was inspired by Ed Gein, the same person who inspired Psycho as well. Further inspiration was a trip to the hardware store. Also, the movie was financed by the company who made profits on the most profitable movie of all time.

The original Night of the Living Dead isn't bad (IMDB lists it as unrated in the U.S., but its Canadian ratings average out to 14A from province to province); though I wouldn't recommend Dawn or Day of the Dead if you don't like gore.

Yeah there you go. Night of the Living Dead is very creepy especially because it's in black and white.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse is good too. I love the cowboy in that movie with the rifle, he's awesome.

yeah, now with all the CGI efects and all that is more dificult to find an original and phisicaly-possibly gory efect

what company? Disney?
anyway, TCM(1974) may not be gory, but it is lightyears scarier than what people can call horror now days.

For a modern horror movie, I would recommend Saw uncut edition, it is gory, but also it is a physcological thriller that has a great plot.

Saw is very freaky,gory,twisted...just perfect for next monday

but hey, considering the ending, I really doubt of the existence of an "Uncut" edition

By the way, a sequel of this was being made isn´t? I heard than now will not be just 2 persons, but eight

Well theres an Uncut Saw DVD. I saw it at Best Buy, and the cover is pretty cool. Theres actually like red water inside the case with a picture of a "saw" Heres the pic:
