Does anyone have any information on specific theaters that will carry the film in Disney Digital 3D? All I have read is that they are picking around 100 in the top 25 markets. I just hope there is one close to me as I am very excited to see a whole movie this new 3D style. It will be like Philharmagic in my backyard. I wonder if this will be a viewing option on the DVD when it is released?

dvdjunkie wrote:"Home on the Range" was a victim of getting lost in the shuffle of a lot of movies on the weekend it debuted.
It also suffered from a shortened production schedule. They wanted to hurry and close the 2D animation department, so they took a lot of shortcuts in order to wrap it up, which hurt the story badly. The animators showed up for work one Monday morning and found that most of their desks had been sold (not a good sign if you're hoping to keep your job). Mostly Disney just wanted to get it done and get it released so they could move on. It's too bad, because it had some potential in the beginning. I'd have left Roseanne out of it, but that's only because I think her voice rivals the voices of Rosie Perez and Fran Drescher as the most annoying voice in the history of speaking.

It will be interesting to see what they've come up with for Chicken Little.

You will notice that I never talked about the 'voice-over' actors. That was probably the biggest annoyance of the movie. I tried to block them out of my mind because I really liked this movie. I probably hated "The Nanny" more because of Fran Drescher's voice than anything else about that show that was so bad. Her voice is like raking fingernails across a blackboard. I dislike Rosie Perez because of her nasal tones also, and Roseanne, what can you say about a talentless, brainless idiot who outlived her fifteen minutes of fame. I only occasionally watched her tv show, but it was because of John Goodman and not her. What a waste of good talent on that television show.

Getting back to the subject at hand - Chicken Little - I hope that it doesn't suffer from too much too soon from the Disney animators with their lack of experience showing very badly on "Twice Upon a Christmas".........I traded my copy of that horrible piece of animation within a week after purchasing it. What a mistake that was.

Twice Upon a Christmas was made by DisneyToon in Australia... the same studio that did Lion King 1 1/2 and Bambi 2. I have only seen a little bit of it, but it didn't look good. Since Disney Feature Animation is responsible for Chicken Little, it should be a million times better as far as the animation and appearance go.

SPOILER

The Lion King opening was totally unfunny.. but whatever, looks alright, I'm kinda undecided about it, let's hope it's as funny as New Groove, I know Mark Dindal can pull it off

NEW SOUNDTRACK INFO

Post by corrwill »

I saw an ad for the movie in Entertainment weekly. It states that the soundtrack will include songs by:

Barenaked Ladies
The Cheetah Girls
Five for Fighting
Patti LaBelle & Joss Stone
R.E.M
Diana Ross

This is a first for Disney. So many popular artists on an animated film soundtrack. Can't wait until Nov. 1 when it gets released.

Awesome, thanks for the info corrwill! :) I was so curious about the soundtrack for the longest time, and now I know who'll be on it. R.E.M.'s song will probably be "It's The End of The World (As We Know It)". But the others sound like new songs, and I'm very curious to hear the Patti Labelle/Joss Stone collab. A first for Disney indeed. 8)

I'm not sure if this is the same song but I know for a fact that the song that you are reffering to is the song sung in the trailer.

Man, I want the soundtrack bad now lol. Last Disney soundtrack I bought was, ironically enough, Home on the Range's. Oh, and apparently this film is getting good reviews from those who have seen it. Time Magazine themselves have given the first "real" review so far. And it's a good one. Let's hope the rest of these stuffy crtiics who loathe most of today's movies like this, too.

I'm not really sure if anyone wants these, being the fact that 640 (X) resolution is probably big enough.

Just click and "Save Link As" or Save Target As" et cetera, I'd recommend getting a download manager.

I can't believe it's so close to screening, this year has gone so fast. Last year when the teaser trailer debuted on Movie-list it seemed so far away. Can't wait!

I have the chance to see this movie in a preview this sunday in Paris.

You'll have a deep review here, but unfortunately in French : http://perso.numericable.fr/~zuzudisney ... hicken.htm

What I can say, it's a very good movie : very funny, modern : a very good start in 3D animation for Disney.

But for the hard fans of Disney who love fairy tales and love stories, you will be disapointed. But, if you like movies like The Emperor's New Groove or Lilo & Stitch, you will love.

Well i had the chance to attend a sort of World Premiere of the movie this sunday in Paris (it was a premiere reserved for Disney Company's french employees) and i have mixed feelings about it:

The good points:

+ The design rocks, the backgrounds, the architecture of the town, the little details in Little's house full of eggs references, warm colors...
+ the character design very reminiscent of Disney's comics (Scrooge, Donald...) with anthromorphical characters.
+ The little gags are funny, some scenes hilarious (the references to modern pop songs via the pig's character are cleverly presented following the situation of the action.)
+ Chicken Little's father is the best character in the movie, the one we can the most feel attached to, well developped and to keep with the Disney's tradition, he lost his wife. Chicken Little is cute but i didn't care much for him. Fish in Water stole many scenes without even speaking (cool!) and i regret that we don't get to see more of the Porcupine character (very reminiscent of one of the Happy Tree Friends)
+ Some funny tributes and cameos of Indiana Jones, Signs...
+ The ending is HILARIOUS, a spoof of Hollywood way of making movies "inspiring by a true story". Great moment!

The negative points:
- This is a TERRIBLY not original movie! Disney did not revolutions the world of 3D animation with this chick, another movie comedy with cute and cuddly characters with modern jokes and pop references. Dreamworks and BlueSky did it a long time ago.
- The animation is not perfect, it's clear that this is a first time for Disney, some movements are not naturals at all (like when the pig fall or Chicken Little run). Very far from the perfection of a Shrek2 or the Incredibles.
- Flat rhythm, the movie is not exciting, we follow the story without great scenes to remember (except for the spoof at the end) like we can quote Dash's chase in the Incredibles, A Whole New World in aladdin or the Final scene of Wallace and Gromit. 1 hour after i saw the movie, i didn't have great memories of it! Very forgettable.
- TOO MUCH modern references and gags linked to contemporary culture (Spice Girls, cellphones...), i don't think this movie will become a timeless classic like previous Disney or Pixar movies.
- The two orignal songs (not sung by the characters but by an external voice like Tarzan or Brother Bear) are not great, very forgettable as well.
-The Disney's spoofs: All but funny, the openings (that we all seen on internet) parody was lame, a waste of time if you ask me, the movie could largely begin directly with the scene where Chicken Little scream that the sky is falling. And there is another one later in the movie about Disney's songs... Autoderision is good, but not in that case, it seems that they did that because it is fashion to spit on the classics thanks to mister SHrek. I hope they won't go that way for Rapunzel.

Final thoughts: Well, for a first try, it is not so bad but far from what we can expect from Disney. No revolutions here, just an original story with "déjà vu" gags and modern spoofs. The animation is far from being perfect. But it is not a bad movie compared to the recent shitty Valiant, not as funny as Kuzco or touching as Lilo and Stitch, not as good as old times movies, we don't know where to put Chicken Little. With the Enormous marketing campaign, i fear the movie will have a bad word o' mouths and with a rude conccurence (Harry Potter, Narnia, King Kong...), i predcit it will not be a great success, especially after the 2 recent old school success of Corpse Bride and Wallace & Gromit (which i prefer to Chick'Lil).

Thank you for the excellent review KinOO!

The pop-gags have really got me tired too. That's the reason why I hated Shrek 2 so much, too much refrences(that and they weren't funny).

I hope Chicken Little won't be that bad. Because I'll probably enjoy it the first time, I just hope it doesn't get old after repetitive views. I mean that's how I got to hate both Shrek and Finding Nemo, which I somewhat enjoyed after the first viewings, but after second viewings, they had alot to be desired.

Yes, very good KinOO, I liked how you touched a lot on positives instead of focusing on just negatives as most people tend to do.

The contemporary stuff can be easily ignored. I managed it with Shrek 2. And plus, I'm kind of excited to see the whole Joan Cusack/Steve Zahn rendition of "Wannabe".

im disheartened...why did they hafta make cover versions of people's songs...what makes disney animated features unique is the lack of pop culture reference and the inclusion of new original memorable disney songs..it doesnt have to be a musical..it just needs original disney songs.
:(
do you still wait for me Dream Giver?
