CINDERELLA: Disney Channel Music Video - 'A Dream is a Wish'
I've split this thread from the Cinderella press release one because there seems to be enough discussion about the music video and getting screencaps to warrant it. While it does pertain (fairly directly, too) to the upcoming Platinum Edition DVD, I figure General Discussion can handle another thread relating to this specific topic. For general discussion, questions, comments, updates, etc. on Cinderella, please continue to use the Press Release thread.
Thanks.
Thanks.
What makes someone a "real singer"? Just because they are known for acting doesn't mean they can't sing. I think it is fun to see the characters from all the shows in one place. Of course the orginal song is a classic, but this new version isn't that bad. Or at least that's what I think.Lucylover1986 wrote:I really don't like it. Most of them aren't even real singers. They should've had another professional singer do a video for it. I think Mariah Carey would have been an amazing choice if they could've gotten her. I also like the original tempo of the song, not the new one.
Disney Villain, I cannot wait until you post the screencaps! I'll be waiting!

Cinderella Music Video
Yes, I agree with goofy108. The song in the video is not that bad. I'll admit, the singing in the video actually isn't very good, but they're still singing alright.
And Disney Villain I definately can't wait until your screencaps. I can't wait I say!!!!! Thank you so much for even doing this! I'll tell you what. I can make animated GIFs, and if you want one with like Maleficent or something I'll try to make you one, just ask! You deserve a medal as Disneykid said!

Thank You to everyone for all the kind words
For the past 4 hours I have been making a Cinderella Web-page. I have lots, and lots of images. There is no way that I will be able to finish everything by 11:30pm tonight. There is just too much stuff. I will however continue to work throughout the night and will be posting everything Tomorrow. I promise by this time tomorrow everything will be up and ready. Thanks once again for all your support.

"There's a great big beautiful tomorrow! Shining at the end of every day!" (especially today!) Thanks for all you hard work and efforts, Disney Villain! Go ahead and take all the time you need to make it wonderful. I can't wait to see your new webpage with all the screen caps and stuff.
Also thank you Disneykid for the video link! It's awesome and I was surprised to see a behind the scenes segment with Mike's Super Short Show. I was confused when the music video was really short and then there was still more of the wmv file to play! Anyhow I see what you all mean when you say the restoration really does justice for the original film. It's great I can't wait for the DVD and Disney Villain's comparisons.
As for the video and the song...
Annliese van der Pol was right in saying that it was untouchable...well for the Disney Channel stars anyway. I've heard the Kimberly Locke and Linda Rondstadt (sp??) versions. Well the latter has been heard by anyone who has seen Wishes and participated in the mass exit of Magic Kingdom or stuck around for Spectromagic.
Anyhow, I have to say the Disney Channel stars version is my least favorite. Sure for kids and tweens these days the song is great and upbeat and modernized, but in comparing it to the original version, the modernized one seems to destroy the hopes of Cinderella. I think KL and LR versions did well to capture the spirit of the song. The modern version was just too...fast. I guess I'm just too traditional. On the other hand, it is true to say that the modern version relates better to today's youth and the fast paced lives of humans of our technological age.
Some good things (IMHO)
Most of these Disney Channel actors sang well. I would like to hear a version just by Alison Mishaka (sp??) or Annliese van der Pol. They have the best voices of the group IMO. Raven is okay, but not my favorite. Ashley Tisdale's voice is pretty good, but it fits more for rock than this classic Disney song. Egads, hopefully that's not what they were trying to do. The twins surprised me and sounded decent but their voices came out of nowhere, lol.
I'm glad the set for the video was an actual ballroom which made sense since it was a song from Cinderella. For Circle of Life they were in some weird teenager computer/television cafe hangout which is as far from the African Jungles as you can get.
Overall, I thought I might like this better than the Circle of Life since I liked Cinderella better than Lion King, but I have to rate both videos equal. I really hope they don't butcher "Under the Sea" or "Part of Your World" next year. Maybe they'll be different and do "Poor Unfortunate Souls." That could be interesting!
lol, the funniest thing was that Ricky Ullman (who's site/fansite obviously provided the download) said he just plays drums. Though I wonder how Pim sings...

Cinderella Screen Captures
Disney Villain, as I have said before, your labor is greatly appreciated. Everyone here is really excited for the screen caps and thank you very much for all your hard work! I can't wait to see the screen caps! And I'll tell you again, I think you deserve a reward! I can't do much, but I can make little animated GIFs. If you would like one, just ask! Here's a sample:

I know it may not look the greatest, but that's about all I can do. I used screen captures from the Sleeping Beauty Special Edition trailer on the Disney Video and DVD web site. If you want anything like it, as I said before, just ask!

Yay! It's coming! Thank you Disney Villain! That's awesome that you're including other stuff too like posters. Thank you again and I hope you don't loses too much sleep from this little project.
I don't know why but I keep on listening/watching the Disney Channel music video. The more I listen to it the more enjoyable it is. I can't wait to see the whole thing now. Though I still feel Maddie (from Suite Life...) has a singing style that doesn't really fit the song. I have to hear the whole thing though to make any real observations though.

DV: Wow...just...wow. Thank you so much for that! I took some of the screencaps you made and made my own comparisons out of them. You can do the same, if you like, for your VHS comparison page since the screencaps from the VHS and the caps from the DVD trailer look rather similar due to them coming from the same mastering. I really appreciate all of your hard effort, I can't thank you enough! The site looks great!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Disneykid, Disney Duster, Kram Nebuer, rb_canadian181, waltdisney123, and goofy108 just to name a few for all the great feedback on my Cinderella Preview site. I am so glad that everyone liked it. It took a long time to make but I enjoyed doing it. Cinderella is not my favorite Disney Movie (My favorites are 101 Dalmatians, and Sleeping Beauty) but I still love to see it.
I am going to take your advice Disneykid and make new comparisions using music video screencaps. Also the Cinderella picture made by Disney Duster is wonderful. Thank you. I will update the site later this week. If anyone wants more screencaps, or previews, or anything from any movie just ask me. And once again THANK YOU for your positive feedback.

Waltdisney123, I could make some more animations if you want, but they will be small. Just ask me and I'll see what I can do.
Well Disney Villain I've been away for a while so I don't know how long it's been since you've laste posted but I just wante dto know if you could see the animation I made. It's not supposed tobe just a still picture. You see Cinderella animated, right? I'm worried it's not working or something.
Also, when are you planning on doing the vhs and music video comparisons? Just asking, no rush. After all, you've already done an EXCELLENT job!
